What are we to make of this?

I reported two identical posts and within a space of 4 minutes I had two members of MNHQ answer me, though a while after I reported. One saying nothing to suggest it wasn't anything other than genuine and another saying MNHQ would keep an eye on it.

Haven't looked yet to see if the thread is still there.

bravo mn staff. v. diligent

i thought you were leaving triple?

TripleTroubleMuffin · 14/06/2009 16:47

How is it diligent when 2 different members of staff answer separately in a 4 minute window and with completely different responses?

I was considering it, definitely posting more selctively and using Mn less I think.

Hmm lets see

never been to Mn towers but if a report it causes a flag by email (as i would guess on a Sunday) then one MN staff member answering each one then deleting from system is pretty much to be expected.

Have no idea who you are TTM but can't see the problem, tbh

TripleTroubleMuffin · 14/06/2009 17:26

This happened late last night. My point is they both answered about the same post but gave completely different answers so it doesn't seem like they always discuss things.

Peachy - you have talked to me before with my old name.

they are probably answering from home, and so not in an office directly opposite each other to discuss.

and if late at night, also not wantning to disturb the other.

they do have lives other than MNHQ

PortAndLemon · 14/06/2009 17:59

Also I don't think those two responses are mutually exclusive -- there can be nothing to suggest that a post is anything other than genuine but at the same time it can still be worth keeping an eye on it (if several MNers' bullshit detectors are going off simultaneously, for example). In fact, I'd almost expect that a seemingly innocuous post reported by only one person would get a "nothing to suggest it's anything other than genuine" response whereas if several people reported the same post a "but we'll keep an eye on it" response would be expected.

TripleTroubleMuffin · 14/06/2009 18:01

I am guessing psycho is right and they have other lifes.

They are not completely different answers, they are the same answer but worded differntly.

"nothing to suggest not genuine" is a slightly more polite way of saying "you're over reacting"

"We'll keep an eye on it" = same thing but makes you feel better about reporting it.

TripleTroubleMuffin · 14/06/2009 18:06

Good call SD,

I think I am done with reporting things as I don't want to be a nuisance.

Oh, but it's so satisfying when you get the "My goodness! You're right"!! I shall delete it forthwith. I bow down at your feet in humble unworthiness." response.

CatherineMumsnet · 14/06/2009 18:17

Triple don't say that! We rely on members to help us keep an eye on what's being posted.
in response to your query, on the weekend normally one person is on duty, but others check in from home. It always helps to have a second pair of eyes and without the office staffed, it's good to have a back up.
We all have slightly different ways of wording things, but we certainly didn't mean to cause any confusion. In fact we'd say 2 responses within 4 minutes is pretty impressive!
