Limiting name changes - what do you think

Saw this from Justine on another thread and just didn't want it to get lost

I'd really hate it if you limited name changes, I have so much fun (on occasion) playing around with names (innocently)

like with WigWamBam, I was WamBamSham
with Soupy I've been TwiglettDragon and SOUPerciliousDragon

I vote a big resounding NO (although maybe there could be a facility to get rid of them once you've used them?)

Now there's an idea morningpaper .

Don't think we'd happily adopt the outing/ naming and shaming route tbh. Have been tempted a few times to be sure but it doesn't really sit comfortably with the "mumsnet philosophy" or our policy of preserving member confidentiality and, much as it might be a great spectator sport, it would most certainly incite matters. We would, however, warn people off-board and consider banning folks who name changed just to cause trouble. Rest assured it doesn't happen that often but for those split personalities who like to have conversations with themselves, do bear in mind - WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE [evil cackle].

but isn't that a larf though Justine

I would find it hysterical sitting in my little box thinking 'I know what you're doing'

and don't think for a minute I don't think that you all have your own posting names
