URGENT - my password is showing!!

When I bring up a history list and hover my mouse over the Login page, the blurb (address?) that I can see includes my password. Am really not happy about this!!! What can I do to prevent this happening?

Am using IE.

Thanks.

I'd be interested to see if anyone else has this problem. It seems that if I login via putting a comment in (IYKWIM), it doesn't show but if I login via "You need to login to see this page" or similar, it shows.

Oh dear, plug - that doesn't sound good.

It's not happening to us at MNHQ - as far as we can tell at the mo - so maybe it's a browser thing.

I'll ask the Techs if we can look into this a bit more for you...

OK, so what browser are you using (Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer)?

And how exactly are you getting your History up?

plug · 29/04/2009 10:33

IE (don't know what version but suspect it's the most recent).

I click on the Favourites button with the star next to it, then on the History tab, then on the day and Mumsnet. It then brings up a list of all the pages I've viewed. If I hover over one of the Mumsnet - Login pages, it brings up the following (also shows if I right click and select properties):

www.mumsnet.com/Talk?handlelogpopup=handlelogpopup&target=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mumsnet.com%2FTalk %3Fcall%3DThreadsImOn&logforced=logforced&nick=MYNICKNAME&pass=MYPASSWORD&remember=0

Eek - just seen it's got my nickname too

OMFG

HelenMumsnet · 29/04/2009 10:42

Ok, thank you - that's helpful.

BigTech is currently tied up with something rather new and complicated but I will talk to him about this as soon as I can.

Hope you can bear with us...

pinksancerre · 29/04/2009 10:44

Happens to me too when I do what plug says

plug · 29/04/2009 10:56

Thank you

Sorry about that. It shouldn't happen in future. You may want to clear your browser history to take the old copies away - if you are worried someone else in the house will look at the history and see your password.

HelenMumsnet · 29/04/2009 12:04

That was Original Tech (in case you were wondering) and it should be all fixed now. Hurrah!

plug · 29/04/2009 12:06

Oh that's great - thank you!
