Yahoo, techteam...I'm getting big sections of white/blue space in the middle of threads

It's really frustrating - especially as it was only the other day you fixed the big white space at the top of a thread and now it's randomly giving me white blocks, or sometimes blue in the middle.

I'm using MN New on IE at work so no idea which one it is.

Does the same for me randomly on Firefox 3.0.8 so probably not an IE problem.

Actually I say randomly, but once it's there it stays IYSWIM even if I restart FF.

Peeingmyselflaughingmummybunny · 03/04/2009 12:07

Well would you look at that, spooky! Did it just above my post, the blue banner my nickname is in takes up half a page!

OhBling · 03/04/2009 12:07

Yes yes - mine too. So it's clearly consistent... (it's your blue banner taking up half the page).

Mine too, I have no idea what I'm on though ( a computer I imagine!)

ProfYaffle · 03/04/2009 12:16

I've been getting this for ages, someone on another thread suggested it's long nick names making the big blue spaces. Dunno if that's right though.

HelenMumsnet · 03/04/2009 12:17

Ah, yes.

That'll be because the Tip of the day/Quote of the week etc are now over on the right-hand side of Talk pages, making the page really long even when they aren't many posts on it.

If it's really bothering lots of you, we'll ask the Techs to take another look at it...

OhBling · 03/04/2009 12:30

It's really bothering me lots . Not sure how many of us feel the same!

OP posts:
Peeingmyselflaughingmummybunny · 03/04/2009 12:35

So I can only post once the thread is long enough to have gone past 'Recipe of the Week'... Confused?

ProfYaffle · 03/04/2009 12:39

Peeingmyself - it seems to be when your nickname's next to the stuff on the right of the screen (recipe of the week etc), once enough new posts have pushed you further down the thread it goes back to normal.

Peeingmyselflaughingmummybunny · 03/04/2009 12:42

So if I flip the thread it'll go away? (I read them top to bottom!)

Sorry everyone, I shall get rid of the easter sillies from my name and make it a bit shorter . Or stop posting...

HelenMumsnet · 03/04/2009 12:43

Ok, is it any better now?

Peeingmyselflaughingmummybunny · 03/04/2009 12:44

No, I'm still buggering things up!

Buda · 03/04/2009 12:46

Everyone needs nice short names like mine!

PMSLBrokeMN · 03/04/2009 12:53

There, is that better?

PMSLBrokeMN · 03/04/2009 13:04

I checked elsewhere, my name no longer breaks MN - sorry all!

OhBling · 03/04/2009 13:26

Mine is stillbad on this page. Will have to check other, new pages to see if it continues...

OP posts:
OhBling · 03/04/2009 16:32

It's still happening. Only now it's only big white blocks next to the Tip of the Day section and not blue.

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 03/04/2009 21:21

I'm still getting them when there is only a post or two in a thread. Its really rather annoying!

Polgara2 · 03/04/2009 21:22

oh I am getting this lots and its driving me mad! Huuuuuuuuuge white space on this thread after the first post and before the second! Please, please fix it tech!!!!!

HelenMumsnet · 03/04/2009 23:03

Hello. Just to let you all know that I've flagged this up to the Techs (who've been let out of the Shed for the weekend).

So hopefully, we can try to sort this out on Monday.
