Tech: Lots of white space

GooseyLoosey · 23/03/2009 13:48

Today, for the first time, I have to scroll down through lots of white space before I get to the list of conversations. This is whether I am in "active conversations" or a specific topic. Is this a glitch or something I will have to learn to live with?

I use IE and this happens with the screen maximised.

PS: thanks very much for fixing "search" - it works beautifully now (although I do have to scroll though a lot of white to get to the hits).

I've also got this problem. The datagrid of threads is not wrapping properly with the information which should be down the right-hand side - everything from the purple-boxed "Mumsnet Talk" down to the "10% discount" box is appearing on the page before the datagrid.

Good Afternoon GooseyLoosey,

What browser are you using (IE, Firefox, etc.) and which style of Mumsnet are you using (Classic, Muted, New, etc.)?

Thanks

AMumInScotland · 24/03/2009 13:00

Hi, Not sure if Goosey's about at the moment, but I'm using IE6 and Mumsnet New.

OhBling · 24/03/2009 13:05

I've had this for ages. I'm using Mumsnet New and not sure about IE - I am bad, only use at office?!

Doesn't happen in Active, or Threads I'm On. But everything else.

AMumInScotland · 24/03/2009 13:13

Just looked again - Talk and Parenting have the "Mumsnet Talk" etc at the top, but Active Convos and Threads I'm On are the other way round - datagrid at the top of the page, RHS further down.

BigTech · 24/03/2009 13:17

Thanks AMumInScotland,

Mumsnet works best in IE7 or Firefox. I would suggest you update your software.

We will look into this issue for you, however, there are a few things that have priority at the moment. Please bear with us or update...

Thanks

Hope this helps.

AMumInScotland · 24/03/2009 13:21

Ta - unfortunately I'm at work at the moment so no option on upgrading , but it's not a major issue when you've got other things higher up the list - I know how that goes!

TartanKnickers · 24/03/2009 13:46

I'm using IE8 and have loads of white space too

Very annoying

JustineMumsnet · 24/03/2009 14:39

Have you tried refreshing your page (sorry if you have!)

BigTech · 24/03/2009 15:17

I have just implemented a fix for the "White Space" issue.

Please refresh all browsers if you have been having this problem as it should now be fixed across the whole site.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 24/03/2009 15:18

It's still not fixed for me.

OhBling · 24/03/2009 15:51

Ooh, nice job. It's fixed for me. Thanks!

cocolepew · 24/03/2009 15:53

I've only got 17 threads showing in active convos

cocolepew · 24/03/2009 15:57

I've changed to firefox and now have 22 active convos. I want 100!

MelonCauli · 24/03/2009 16:05

My active convos is now only 20 instead of 100

cocolepew · 24/03/2009 16:14

Mines fixed again

AMumInScotland · 25/03/2009 09:26

Thanks BigTech, that seems to have cured it completely here.

BigTech · 25/03/2009 09:54

Good Morning,

I am glad that the white space issue has been resolved for most of you.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo, please let me know what browser you are using and what Mumsnet setting and i will look into your issue.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 25/03/2009 15:33

I'm on Internet Explorer and I have new MN setting.

Polgara2 · 25/03/2009 23:04

I am still getting big white spaces and big blue ones too (the blue bit where the poster name appears). I am on IE7 and MN New.

Polgara2 · 26/03/2009 22:44

This is really bad tonight and is hugely annoying .

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 26/03/2009 23:28

Do you need my log in password so you can have a look from my POV? It's ILoveBigTech

Polgara2 · 29/03/2009 10:02

BigTech this is still happening and the spaces are the size of the adverts etc column and is REALLY annoying! Are you anywhere near fixing it pretty please?

GooseyLoosey · 30/03/2009 10:59

Sorry for not getting back sooner tech - I'm using IE and viewing in classic. It's still happening.

Thanks for trying to sort this.
