Only showing three threads I started

Alittleteapot · 13/03/2009 21:00

Hi, when I look at threads I started now it's only showing three recent threads whereas it used to show every thread I'd ever started. Lots of these were things I wanted to keep as records of my dd. Does anyone know how i can get older threads back??? Feeling a bit

Thanks

if they were 'chat' threads they are removed after 3 months.

Alittleteapot · 13/03/2009 21:02

No, none of them were chat threads, they were normal topic threads, so they would still show up in search. Maybe if I search by my user name?

yes they should still be there then.

Hello, Alittleteapot.

Sorry your threads have gone missing. Are you using Internet Explorer? A couple of other posters who are on IE seem to be having this problem...

We are working on trying to fix this.

In the meantime, it might be worth giving Firefox a whirl and seeing if that makes a difference.

Alittleteapot · 16/03/2009 22:35

Hi Helen, thanks for your reply.

No not on Explorer, I'm on Safari and have also tried Firefox. Am I right that I should be able to see every thread i've ever started on "Threads I've Started" or is there a time limit?

Also, using advance search, search by nickname: I was looking for a chicken recipe someone had given me and when I searched my nickname it didn't come up but when I searched my nickname and "chicken" it did. So it seems even via the nickname search I'm not getting all the threads i've been on or even started.

Have I been foolish not to download threads I want to keep and save them on my own harddrive? I think I suggested this before, but I think it would be great if there was an easy way to create your own Mumsnet Archive. I'm sure I'm not the only one who regards some threads as priceless records of our children's development and our own development as mothers. Any thoughts or advice would be welcome. Thanks

Alittleteapot, I think Threads I've Started does have a time limit, actually - looking at my one, I'd guess it's about a month or two. But I will check for you.

We're aware that there are some problems with Search at the moment (sorry) and we are trying to fix them.

Your suggestion of a personal Mumsnet Archive is very interesting: I shall pass it on to Those Who Can Make Things Happen...

Thanks Helen. It's weird, I'm sure I remember a place where I could call up all my threads ever (including name changes).

Anyway, let me know how the archive idea goes, meanwhile I'll try and schedule some (several hours I fear) downloading time to save the threads I can find that I want to keep.
