Mumsnetiquette and frequent name-changers

Is it bad manners to refer to someone's frequent namechanges when it's v obvious that they're the same person?

One board I visit often has a poster who keeps coming back with the same situation and asking questions, obv not liking the answers, namechanging and asking again.

It's quite hard not to say, Oh FFS, I KNOW it's you!

I suppose I should just hide her threads. I am turning into a grumpy old woman.

She's actually been outed several times, just namechanges and comes back as if everyone will forget her very distinctive situation/not mention it/give different advice.

It's v weird.

Also annoying, although I can't work out why a bunch of pixels on a screen irritates me so. Odd, isn't it?

Oooh is it me? I'm a frequent namechanger. Don't think I have a long running problem that I've been airing on mn though.

Well ALL my screen names contain 'liffey'. Before that I was Green Elizabeth and many permutations of Elizabeth. I want people to know it's the same old poster, but not to be able to search (easily) every post I've ever made. I know this sounds like paranoia to the extent of needing medication, but I have learnt the hard way that tinternet is a small world.

Haven't a notion who the op is referring to! I'm intrigued now!

Liffey, I've noticed the theme in your names (no, tis not you BTW) and I reckon that's a clever way of doing things.

My current name is completely different to the only other one I've had, so no am not frazzledoldbag. Kinda wish I was though, it's much funnier .

Now that's a good idea liffey. Perhaps I should pick a theme and stick to it. I don't particularly like starting again and again, but I also can't bear the idea of someone working out who I am and being able to search every post I've ever made.

(It's not total paranoia on my part. I know that friends mumsnet (don't know their names though) and I've very easily recognisable circumstances).

i change names a lot at mo but after reading your OP i realised it can't be me as i don't ask the same thing over and over (i don't think)

I think you can only hide or direct to a thread that you think is theirs. It may simply be someone new asking a similar thing or several people who just happen to have the same thing on their minds

And no, not you either. No problem with namechanging in general, I should say, is just this one individual who doesn't seem to like the excellent advice that many, many people have spent a lot of time offering her...

She kept logging on with the same dilemma. TO keep her baby or terminate. She and her boyfriend were both 'academics' and he didn't really want the child. She did, but worried about her career. It was all terribly terribly self-absorbed though. We kept giving excellent advice, and people were saying it's a hard decision, but at 26, not that hard. YOu choose one option and make the best of things.

That may sound blunt but this woman was determined to over analyse everything and to be self-indulgent and melo-dramatic. She thought she was the first 'educated' woman to have a baby I think. When people told her "I had my baby at 22 and it has all worked out well", it was clear that the op though, yes, but you're not as fabulous as me. She felt she had a lot to give the World, and that by merely bowing down to the primitive instinct to breed she might be depriving the world of her genius.

I wouldn't be Xenia#s biggest fan, but I told her Xenia had five babies and is running a company or something!!

There were about five of them! Sometimes she was a phd student, sometimes she was a photographer. I think she was Anna Pasternak researching a book. I said to her ~"are you anna pasternak?" and she disappeared. Totally.

The style of writing. It was her dilemma, supposedly, but it was as though she were floating above herself, looking down, observing every angle of her dilemma with detachment, humour, intelligence. She wrote well, I'll say that, but it was 'writing'. you know? It wasn't somebody who's thoughts were racing too fast for their fingers to keep up. It was self-conscious. I wish I could remember her screen name.
It might come to me. (one of her screen names).
