I thought it was supposed to be private? It's popping up in active.. is that right?

What?!?! When was the decision made to private it?

stuffitllama · 30/01/2009 08:11

I'm not sure, I just thought it mean it didn't show up in active.

Oh hang on, I've always had the "show sn" button pressed so not noticed any change. The button to hide/show it seems to have gone from customise.

stuffitllama · 30/01/2009 08:19

It's not that I don't want to see it! But when I wanted to post something there I had to hunt a bit and I thought it was a hide unless request otherwise sort of thing .

OP posts:
Saltire · 30/01/2009 08:20

It was a hide thread, it had to be selected in customise mumsnet

2shoes · 30/01/2009 08:22

it is not there, oh lovely the topic will be great now...........not

SoupDragon · 30/01/2009 08:22

I've always "opted in" to the SN topic. I think it is a no win situation - some people thought this was OK and some thought it excluded SNs. IIRC there was a lot of discussion before it was changed to Opt Out originally but you can't please everyone

2shoes · 30/01/2009 08:29

trouble is without the opt in(so it never has been private as anyone can opt in) people won't realise they are posting in sn.

SoupDragon · 30/01/2009 09:08

Especially as the topic headings on active conversations seem to be teeny tiny.

2shoes · 30/01/2009 10:24

awaits the threads kicking off in sn

Tamarto · 30/01/2009 11:25

I noticed this, and afte a little search i found where you opt in, mine is ticked to no but i still see them. A bug?

IdrisTheDragon · 30/01/2009 11:28

I could see them (was opted in before) but when I went to my settings found it was on no but could still see them. Does sound like some sort of bug.

JustineMumsnet · 30/01/2009 11:34

apologies - we'll fix this asap.

BitOfFun · 30/01/2009 11:41

amber32002 · 30/01/2009 14:30

2shoes · 01/02/2009 22:26

is it back, as I can't find it

Icanseethesea · 01/02/2009 22:32

[confused emoticon]

SN has always popped up in my active convos, had no idea there was a button to hide it - not that I would anyway, but does this mean it won't be in my active convos any more?

Threadworm · 01/02/2009 22:32

I've just noticed that my 'include special needs' is defaulted to 'no' but special needs topics are still visible in active convos. Hadn't noticed the bug before becasue I had always chosen to have it visible.

The link to customise topic list is very inadequate.

2shoes · 01/02/2009 22:48

where is it now?

Dropdeadfred · 01/02/2009 22:49

why is special needs hidden (or why should it be hidden)?

Threadworm · 01/02/2009 22:50

in thwe middle of the customise page there is a heading 'Active Conversations and Searches', and within this a heading beginning with the word 'ignore' there is a single-word hyperlink ( the word 'here') to the hide and show thread page sn opt in/out is there.

Non-descriptive hyperlinks '(here) violate accessibility rules, don't they?

2shoes · 01/02/2009 22:58

thanks....talk about hidden

Dropdeadfred · 01/02/2009 23:03

why is the topic hidden though?

2shoes · 02/02/2009 09:27

it isn't hidden, just has an opt in/out button, just to remind people taht they are posting in SN.
