Dear MNHQ, I didn't see all the problems kick off over poor Revjustabout...

but I would be grateful if you could tell me that you have at least given serious consideration to banning the posters who were harrassing her.

Thank you.

I'm also waiting for PrincessPeaHead to rescind her accusation that Rev has been economical with the truth.

I'm quite surprised that she posted that and other things which I believe were even more emphatic, given as what she's a lawyer and all.

Dear Rev,

I am sorry for doubting that your family died in the Holocaust and that you are not a Rev. And that you are your dh.

Love,

Enid

Genuine. Apparently.

RubberDuck · 20/01/2009 20:45

Am tempted to change my name to RevRubberDuck in solidarity. Except I'd hate to have to prove that I was made of rubber or took lots of baths or anything. Plus that whole inconvenient atheist thing.

Maybe IrrevRubberDuck

I agree that the MNHQ response has been a bit limp. I wonder whether they're so buffetted by the whole crappy Moldy saga that their usual clear thinking has been clouded.

Aitch · 20/01/2009 20:47

TFM.

HerIllustriousEminenceOnebat · 20/01/2009 20:47

And as I said on the other thread - EVERYONE IN THE WORLD other than nutters knows that religion is a matter of opinion/faith/choice.

Being a wrong doctor: bad
Being a wrong lawyer: expensive
Being a wrong minister: Hello (staunch atheist)

HighPriestessrutyofthe7Seas · 20/01/2009 20:47

which thread was enid's apology on?

vonsudenfed · 20/01/2009 20:48

thankyou soph . Must use it a bit more

And actually, the more I think about it, the more absurd it gets.

One of the good things about the reluctant worshippers thread was that there was a real live rev on there - it certainly made a difference for me (I lurked, but with real interest).

HighPriestessrutyofthe7Seas · 20/01/2009 20:48

Yes Aitch that was the subject of the taunting on said thread.

HerIllustriousEminenceOnebat · 20/01/2009 20:48

Yes, Enid's apology was exquisitely sincere, wasn't it?

Heathcliffscathy · 20/01/2009 20:49

see below ruty

Nantucket · 20/01/2009 20:49

Sophable, I was SmileysPeople, a long time ago. Since then I've been soooooooooo many people, I usually like being anonymous on here.

Heathcliffscathy · 20/01/2009 20:49

thanks nan

lisalisa · 20/01/2009 20:49

Ihave just seen this and have to say I know nothing about this. I have great respect for rev particularly as my debating partner on the Israel threads and she is someone I would be very interested to know in real life. She is proof that one can be at opposite ends of the spectrum of beliefs and yet still remain MN friends. I sincerely hope she is ok and that no-one is harrassing her or causing her upset.

TheFallenMadonna · 20/01/2009 20:49

This one ruty.

Lauriefairycake · 20/01/2009 20:49

very sincere.

I believed every word.

as does everyone obviously.

NotRubberAndNotADuck · 20/01/2009 20:50

Kerry - I don't know... can you prove it. I think we all have to be extra specially careful with our names now...

HerIllustriousEminenceOnebat · 20/01/2009 20:51

No I won't apologise as I do not have the first clue if anyone on this site is who they say they are or whether anything they say is actually the truth.
By Swedes on Tue 20-Jan-09 15:20:17
MrEniddo - it is Mumsnet etiquette to apologise if you are wrong. In this case, you were not only wrong but also very unkind.

I think you should apologise.

Aitch · 20/01/2009 20:53

who is the defrocking to protect? surely anyone hanging out on the religion threads will find out pretty quickly that the rev is the expert. (try reading a bfing thread, tiktok is so clearly the expert there, you don't need to know in advance).

and if she's on another thread, just generally mucking in, will anyone notice the rev in front of the name and behave in a more respectful manner? (it does rather seem not, so far...)

i'm not getting this.

francagoestohollywood · 20/01/2009 20:53

Don't have a clue about how opportune it is to have a rev in your name. I have never thought about it.

But I have read the gaza thread and I was shocked at the attacks made on her. Yes, MNHQ's response has been limp, to quote PW!

LadyMuck · 20/01/2009 20:53

So are names going to be vetted to check that they are OK? I mean I have always assumed that scienceteacher is a scienceteacher. More so than I believed that revjustabout was a rev, but only because I am on the education threads more than the religion one.

Or is this because some people (incl MNHQ presumably) didn't like the tone of Rev, that she assumed an authority that she didn't have. There are loads of posters on here who have a tone of authority about them and act as unappointed moderators, including those who have been the most vociferous wolfhounds.

Heathcliffscathy · 20/01/2009 20:55

like i say. revjustabout is not exactly an official sounding name.

Aitch · 20/01/2009 20:55

are you a member of the landed gentry, ladymuck? i do hope so. or thy name will be muck.

TheFallenMadonna · 20/01/2009 20:55

It's so no-one thinks that the Church of England is the established church of MN. Or something like that anyway
