Holiday Prizes

I know it's not a MN 'issue' but why do so many of the holiday / break type prizes exclude school holidays - meaning that if you do actually win you can't go if you have a school aged child unless you take them out of school or its also no good if you work in a school!

e.g. It's wonderful that we do have a chance to win a fantastic looking hol in Cornwall BUT no good if it means taking kids out of school.

I agree with you. Something else which annoys me is travel agents offering 'family' packages (2ad and 2 ch) during school term time. I really think that this sort of advertising should not be allowed. IMO family packages should only be advertised to be taken during school holidays.

I suppose it isn't impossible to take a 2 night weekend break with school aged kids , if you have an inset day for example. We did win one which had date restrictions but were still able to negotiate an offpeak week at a time we could take it as our school term started a few days later than others.

it's very generous of the companies to offer fabbo prizes but I think MN should 'ecourage' more school friendly prizes.
(Inset days are sometimes OK to wangle a long weekend unless you have to work them ie teachers / TAs!!)

We do try to 'persuade' the lovely companies that give us the holiday prizes to make the holidays school-holiday friendly but it's just not possible all the time.

We duly consider ourselves chastised, though, and will try to be even more 'persuasive' in future

Sorry, late in the day

Whizzz · 13/01/2009 17:57

(I'm not going to win now am I ???)
