If you (still) feel the need to discuss Moldies, please do it here so folks can hide this if they want to.

Well hopefully the title says it all. There's been a suggestion, and we agree, that as we did with Baby P and the Mc Canns we just have one thread where anyone who feels they still have anything to add on this subject can post and those who'd rather move on can hide it away.

It feels strange to put this thread in site stuff as we are definitely not wanting to encourage further discussion of Moldies (we have presents to wrap too you know ) but we weren't sure where else to put it.

We will delete any new Moldies threads that are started, so please feel free to report them in case we miss any (what with wrapping the presents and all...)

And if you do want to carry on the discussion please remember that Mumsnet's here to make everyone's lives easier and not the reverse, and that Christmas is a time of goodwill to all mumsnetters past, present and future

Thanks,
MNHQ

Perhaps you could explain then?

BBBee · 29/12/2008 17:51

it is more of a 'safe haven' IMO - i think it is to do with people other people 'know' and have expereince of - rather than 'oh no not her she is such a bitch' it is not judgemental - more wanting to be safe and know who is there and who is not.

maybe i am horribly naive.

Tortington · 29/12/2008 17:52

nah

Tortington · 29/12/2008 17:52

i think you are naive BBBEE

Countingtheflocksbynight · 29/12/2008 17:53

I post on here intermittently ...quite a bit some days and then not at all for a couple of weeks ... and was dismayed to read about the Moldie fracas yesterday on my return.

I think Justine and Co have been amazingly tolerant and gracious in the circumstances. I help to run a tiny business (200th of the size of Mumsnet) and I understand what goes in to keeping it going: nothing short of blood, sweat and tears. Although the Mouldies are perfectly entitled to copy the entire format and post privately, I think it's really "off" to do so.

Also, I think the elephant in the room here is "class". I know this is a contentious thought and everyone may not agree, but whenever the complaint went up about Mumsnet being larger nowadays and open to all and posters not being as "witty and articulate", I always smelt a nasty whiff of class superiority in the air. Perhaps I'm wrong - I'm not saying all Moldies are guilty of that - but it's just my impression.

I agree with everything CliffRichard says about now making this site as supportive and helpful to Newbies as possible.

BBBee · 29/12/2008 17:53

am I?

do they hate me?

do they think I am a bitch?

WalkinginWaynettaWonderland · 29/12/2008 17:54

Custardo if you are accusing me of something then at least have the balls to say it.

zippitippitoes · 29/12/2008 17:55

no you arent being naive bbbeee

can never get the right number of letters

Tortington · 29/12/2008 17:56

catinthehat1 · 29/12/2008 17:57

Help me with something here - Waynetta (WWW) are you connected to Wicked Water Witch (WWW)?

cornsilk · 29/12/2008 17:57

WalkinginWaynettaWonderland - how did you get my picture on your profile?

Tortington · 29/12/2008 17:57

she most certainly is not ( i think)

WalkinginWaynettaWonderland · 29/12/2008 17:59

Cat - not WWW - just WaynettaSlob in Christmas attire.

And cornsilk - - perhaps we are twins separated at birth???

catinthehat1 · 29/12/2008 17:59

Thought not, just wanted to get it straight. As you were. Sorry Waynetta.

WalkinginWaynettaWonderland · 29/12/2008 18:00

I appear to have upset Custardo - if anyone can work out why please let me know.

WalkinginWaynettaWonderland · 29/12/2008 18:01

No worries Cat

Tortington · 29/12/2008 18:01

Waynetta, please accept my profound apologies, a rather angry poster yesterday described mumsnet the same as your name. I thought it was a namechanger to be deliberatley inflamatory.

i heartily and humbly apologise

cornsilk · 29/12/2008 18:02

Waynetta is that picture really you?

theinsider · 29/12/2008 18:04

Just catching up with this and am to see I'm (mis)quoted in the Telegraph.

Aitch pointed out earlier that she said the words attributed to me. (BTW Thanks for that Aitch, I was about to have to search as I didn't think they were me )

I'm just that my name was in the Telegraph.

TWINSETinapeartree · 29/12/2008 18:05

I feel exactly the same way about this as the newly named Clarissimo only as usual she has said it much better than I have done or probabkly would do.

I would like to think that for all the moldies there have been people that they wished could have joined the board or that they regret causing hurt to. I was touched when one of them went to the trouble of contacting me, it also restored my faith in her as in my usual naval gazing over analysing over needy and sensitive way I was starting to question her and me.

Well said Rhubarb, lets start doing it. I have about two hours to mumsnet while my sister and dd are out.

Can I also say that I have just made the most delicious turkey supreme slight dish so am feeling as the Indie would say smug and self satisfied.

Flihgtattendant · 29/12/2008 18:05

I've been thinking about this.,

I don't think it's so much there's another place, a better place even...where any of us might want to be.

it's more the implicit thing, that the place they have left behind (mainly) is a bit, well, lacking. It's like that ad where the guy's next door neighbours have got a flashy new car, and sold him their old one, and he is always just one step behind.

It sort of feels like that. 'We have moved on and found a really nice place to meet up, it's better than this one, obviously, therefore you lot are posting on a really rather rubbish website'.

I think that felt insulting to me - that I was a fool for being here while there was such a nice place round the corner.

But it really is a conceit, anyway, and not bothering me very much now (I am relieved to say - no more tears for the telegraph, no sir)

and it really is like the Sneetches. It's not worth getitng in a pickle about any more, for me at least. I don';t really care too much now i've had a proper go at everyone.

Threadworm · 29/12/2008 18:07

LOLOL at the Sneetches comparison.

catinthehat1 · 29/12/2008 18:09
holidaywonk · 29/12/2008 18:09

Wot are Sneetches?

CaptainUnderpants · 29/12/2008 18:10
