If you (still) feel the need to discuss Moldies, please do it here so folks can hide this if they want to.

Well hopefully the title says it all. There's been a suggestion, and we agree, that as we did with Baby P and the Mc Canns we just have one thread where anyone who feels they still have anything to add on this subject can post and those who'd rather move on can hide it away.

It feels strange to put this thread in site stuff as we are definitely not wanting to encourage further discussion of Moldies (we have presents to wrap too you know ) but we weren't sure where else to put it.

We will delete any new Moldies threads that are started, so please feel free to report them in case we miss any (what with wrapping the presents and all...)

And if you do want to carry on the discussion please remember that Mumsnet's here to make everyone's lives easier and not the reverse, and that Christmas is a time of goodwill to all mumsnetters past, present and future

Thanks,
MNHQ

Cliff/Rhubarb - maybe MN are on it? I have changed my name in the last few days(boring reasons) by putting "1" on the end. This was enough to cause a ban on posting until I explained myself.

It doesn't matter if posts get 'lost' - if you really like them , copy/paste for the audience on line a bit later.

XmasPud - I really really wouldn't get into a food fight with some of this lot

BBBee · 29/12/2008 17:33

ZIPPI!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 29/12/2008 17:33

Actually rhubarb - that's a fucking excellent post and it shouldnt be overlooked. At all.

And I'm very sorry for being a twat this morning because I was upset about poor twig.

So i'll do my best to be better.

Clarissimo · 29/12/2008 17:34

VVVQV what happened to Twig please?

Twig was nice to me on a DS1 thread; I always remember those people

MumofBaby · 29/12/2008 17:34

Sod this, I'm leaving this thread. Molides have their opinions, the rest of us have ours. I don't need to feel part of a special club, I just want to use MN for what it was intended for. Some people arn't worth worrying about and can dish it out but can't take it. And others have real lives, away from the internet, to focus on.

stuffitllama · 29/12/2008 17:34

I mean, it doesn't matter (to most people I hope?), but I think you can't pretend it isn't there. That is one thing that really IS like rl -- having to slightly feel your way with new people. It shouldn't be unexpected.

Clarissimo · 29/12/2008 17:34

I didnt get a ban for name changing?

OTOH MN prob do know me by now.

Piffle · 29/12/2008 17:35

custy I'll try and mail you from mybig pc soon as although I know you and some moldies/mners are not on best terms for whatever reasons, I had hoped to stay on good terms with you. Not least cos I visit your neck of the woods to see friends etc so had hoped to catch you again. Sober
Fwiw I was not posting on moldies at time of meet and had actually forgotten about it since joining due to various life shit. But I suspect that's by the by?

catinthehat1 · 29/12/2008 17:36

Does this help?

By alors on Mon 29-Dec-08 10:16:31
No matter what the reason, and however satisfying on the part of the poster.

We wouldn't let our children do it, we would suggest kicking out a husband who did it - and currently, we seem to carry on doing it ad nauseum, regardless of what damage it does. Thread after thread. Post after post.

Can we get it out of our systems now, before the end of the year?

Then shut the fuck up. Please?

needmorecoffee · 29/12/2008 17:38

are we not allowed to namechange? I was going to go back to riven.

Threadworm · 29/12/2008 17:39

I like Rhubarb's post too. I started off being quite gentle over the whole moldie saga, but allowed myself to make a couple of posts that were much harsher than my normal MN tone -- because of the hurt involved in thinking (rightly or wrongly) of myself as having been judged and found wanting by people who wrongly called themselves my superiors.

I really don't feel at all comfortable with all this harshness mine and other people's and I hope very much that this whole business can just die off the MN boards. It will, if people stop being so hurtful to one another.

Clarissimo · 29/12/2008 17:40

Riven I managed it didnt I?

Must be possible

WalkinginWaynettaWonderland · 29/12/2008 17:41

Good post Rhubs..

zippitippitoes · 29/12/2008 17:41

why would you get banned for name changing

unless you were being malicious

Tortington · 29/12/2008 17:43

nice name waynetta (PPH?) not inflamatory in the slightest.

alors · 29/12/2008 17:43

Thank you catinthehat1.

The thread title was 'vicious namecalling'

Riven - I have also namechanged (I was ggglimpopo, I explained on a now deleted thread why and when I had changed) - I think open namechanging is fine, namechanging to bully, mock or hurt is a load of crap and is cowardly and deserves to be outed.

Hiding behind a name to hurt is as bad or worse than trolling, especially if you actually 'know' those you are scorning. At least trolls are strangers.

I would rather be trolled by a bored pimply fifteen year old, than be jibed at by a 35 year old woman with an axe to grind. Personally.

Tortington · 29/12/2008 17:45

i agree alors.

Clarissimo · 29/12/2008 17:46

realises new name gettinga nnoying already but stands steadfast. Maybe until tomorrow?

Is it worth being clarissimo formerly Peachy as a name for a swapover period I woner?

Hmm.....

francagoestohollywood · 29/12/2008 17:47

agree with ggg.

zippitippitoes · 29/12/2008 17:47

I met you at the Xmas meet, Piffle, and you were lovely. As were Pillock, Custy, BIWI, Flame, Psycho, Norky, Buda, Lapin, Sheik, Mamazon, Marsy and pretty much everyone else I chatted to (I did have a lot of gin that night, though...).

It bothers me not that there is a separate forum (although I'm sorry that certain posters are no longer around on MN so much) but it bothers me to see nice people I have met in RL upset over it. It also bothers me that certain posters appear to be seeking to deny those who are offended and upset their right to those feelings. This is only fanning the flames of anger and hurt and I wish it would stop.

WalkinginWaynettaWonderland · 29/12/2008 17:47

Am I missing something Custy?

Tortington · 29/12/2008 17:48

clearly

BBBee · 29/12/2008 17:49

oh dear

i am so sorry people are sad.

can i just say that those that are nominated and then vetoed on moldies are not deemed 'not good enoguh' it is not as dracionian as that.
