If you (still) feel the need to discuss Moldies, please do it here so folks can hide this if they want to.

Well hopefully the title says it all. There's been a suggestion, and we agree, that as we did with Baby P and the Mc Canns we just have one thread where anyone who feels they still have anything to add on this subject can post and those who'd rather move on can hide it away.

It feels strange to put this thread in site stuff as we are definitely not wanting to encourage further discussion of Moldies (we have presents to wrap too you know ) but we weren't sure where else to put it.

We will delete any new Moldies threads that are started, so please feel free to report them in case we miss any (what with wrapping the presents and all...)

And if you do want to carry on the discussion please remember that Mumsnet's here to make everyone's lives easier and not the reverse, and that Christmas is a time of goodwill to all mumsnetters past, present and future

Thanks,
MNHQ

'The initial argument started after Moldies started a separate area where they could talk about issues surrounding older children.

Mumsnet, which has over 40,000 users, tends to focus on advice on babies and toddlers.'

The Daily Telegraph sems to have overlooked our teenager section

ChristmasFairySantAsSLut · 29/12/2008 13:30

hmmmm...I asked this a few days ago...no idea on which thread, lol....but....anyway...what exactly are moldies anyway....?

catinthehat1 · 29/12/2008 13:30

HM - as far as I'm concerned, YES YES YES, I even think I made that personally clear to you a few days ago. Can't speak for anyone else of course.

But I can't bear the whiners and the "Don't You Know Who I Ams?". Problem is that I do remember them unfortunately, they stick out, and always have done.

Aitch · 29/12/2008 13:30

forays? all this 'go back to your own site' stuff, it's madness. unless you are prepared to swear never to CAT, email, FB or ever mention MN again privately? i never post this as i think it's pretty rude but... get a GRIP everyone, please?

Colbeck · 29/12/2008 13:30

I should think so Hunker. in fact you have haven't you???

but there will be an air of separtenss around them for a while I'd imagine though.

saying that go on the general threads on MN and there are hundreds on MN totally unawre of all this, you'd be very safe there. I saw some say yesterday, oh has LL left????

There are island of saftey, but I'd suggest if you don't want to talk about Moldies, get off the moldie thread. (go and find my palestinian dilemma one in chat, I am most disappointed about the lack of interst so even moldies welcome ther/

LucyJones · 29/12/2008 13:31

MumofBaby - look at the daily Telegraph link, that might help you

StealthPoHoHoHo · 29/12/2008 13:31

yeah that was complete crap LucyJones. Plus surely some Moldoes have babies/toddlers. It's nothing to do with the age of your children

Colbeck · 29/12/2008 13:31

Right hunker, croissed posts, didn't see those nasty twig posts.

wordgirl · 29/12/2008 13:31

Exactly LJ. There must be thousands of us here who have older children - Custardo being one notable example - and we seem to manage perfectly well without our own separate site!

Aitch · 29/12/2008 13:32

yeah, stealthy, these two.

"Another , the 'Theinsider' said: "I am embarrassed. I hope it helps give everyone a sharp sense of perspective."

MrsMerryHenry said: "It was interesting for a day. It's not now. It's cringeworthy in the extreme." "

it's mad, i can't believe it, can the journalists on the telegraph and indie not read?

NorthernLurker · 29/12/2008 13:32

There was another thread yesterday about the newspaper piece in which a series of unpleasant things were said about revjustabout - the whole thread has been pulled. I realise many will not be aware of that as it thankfully isn't in the public domain anymore but would like to point out that this isn't only a non-moldies insulting moldies thing. There's mudslinging going on all over the place.

MumofBaby · 29/12/2008 13:32

How many Moldies are there? Does MNHQ condone it or what?

StealthPoHoHoHo · 29/12/2008 13:33

And Moldies have never said it is, afaik

hunkermunker · 29/12/2008 13:33

Colbeck, where did I say I didn't want to talk about Moldies?

daftpunk · 29/12/2008 13:33

aitch....did you really think this would all end happily?

pooka · 29/12/2008 13:33

The thing is that is twice now that the posters here have been idly chatting (firstly about cocktails and then earlier today, pasta sandwiches and airing cupboards) and vvvqv has popped along to berate the vileness of the thread or somesuch thing.

Everything calmed down, people having innocent non-combative chat, and vvvqv turns up like red adair to put out the flames of vileness. Either your timing's wonky vvvqv or you're actually just trying to pick a fight.

ChristmasFairySantAsSLut · 29/12/2008 13:34

hmm...but what exactly are moldies...mumsnet oldies?

And if so, when are you one of those...
and surely not just mumsnet oldies are people with older children?

Why is there such a need to make a distinction between members....
oh, it's politics innit...it's one of teh many things I just don't get...lol

StealthPoHoHoHo · 29/12/2008 13:34

Just checking! When you said "were from me" I thought you meant you had submitted them for use in an article they may want to write

LucyJones · 29/12/2008 13:34

I think it's fairly apparent that things will get riled up on this thread but not the rest of the board thank god

LucyJones · 29/12/2008 13:35

ChristmasFairySantAsSLut - MNoldies is a separate forum which is invite only

NorthernLurker · 29/12/2008 13:35

Oooh yes - airing cupboards.

D'you think I should get some tartan paint to do the inside of mine? Would they have some at Cath Kidston?

hunkermunker · 29/12/2008 13:36

Why are people talking about cocktails on this thread?

Aitch · 29/12/2008 13:36

actually, daftpunk, at this stage i think that people are determined to grind their axes in a way that makes me fear for their sanity. their happiness is neither here nor there at this stage.

frasersmummy · 29/12/2008 13:36

What really annoys me is that there are soo many issues and problems discussed all over mn and its this crap that makes the papers

There are things discussed on here that people in gneral dont know go on in life until it happens to them or someone they know. Things that with the right publicity might get some public/govt action taken

We should be uniting together to make this point to the paper
