If you (still) feel the need to discuss Moldies, please do it here so folks can hide this if they want to.

Well hopefully the title says it all. There's been a suggestion, and we agree, that as we did with Baby P and the Mc Canns we just have one thread where anyone who feels they still have anything to add on this subject can post and those who'd rather move on can hide it away.

It feels strange to put this thread in site stuff as we are definitely not wanting to encourage further discussion of Moldies (we have presents to wrap too you know ) but we weren't sure where else to put it.

We will delete any new Moldies threads that are started, so please feel free to report them in case we miss any (what with wrapping the presents and all...)

And if you do want to carry on the discussion please remember that Mumsnet's here to make everyone's lives easier and not the reverse, and that Christmas is a time of goodwill to all mumsnetters past, present and future

Thanks,
MNHQ

Hang on a minute NL - that wasn't my quote (in the Telegraph)!! Whose was it?

Colbeck · 29/12/2008 13:17

twig hasn't been mentioned for daysssssssssss, has she????

Till you brought it up again QV.

Read catinhats posts and see if you can figure out what she is trying to say.

StealthPoHoHoHo · 29/12/2008 13:18

It was DumbledoresGirl - pmsl that they can get it so wrong, again! Ah well, might still buy one for my 5 minutes of (pseudo) fame

Quattrocento · 29/12/2008 13:18

VVV I like the about-turn and the conciliatory tone.

Do you mind my asking if, given your relationship with the editor of the Sunday independent, you were responsible for the leak?

lou33 · 29/12/2008 13:19

can someone explain to me why it matters how long anyone has been here, and why there should be any distinction between newer and older members?

my brain is confused

Gobbledigook · 29/12/2008 13:19

Tiggi, I think you'll find I've made 3 or 4 posts TOPS in the last few days and I don't think you need any stirring - you're all whipped up enough on your own!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 29/12/2008 13:22

I really must go - have lots of RL things to be getting on with, but, Quattro - I was joking re the Sindie editor - I thought that was apparent, but clearly not! OOops. I've no idea who he (or she?) is, and I know no-one that works for the Sindie. But it's hardly a "leak" anyway, is it? It's on the www for all to see and there are many, many lurkers. I do wish MNHQ would confirm this though. Tis very annoying and is just fuelling the suspicion and Making Things Worse.

Tiggiwinkle · 29/12/2008 13:22

Yes gdg-3 or 4 posts- just to stir! Do you not like it on your special site then?

Why do you feel the need to pop back solely to make these little digs?

StealthPoHoHoHo · 29/12/2008 13:22

Is it normal for journalists to be so badly wrong when quoting people? If I made huge public cock ups in my job I'd be held to account

NorthernLurker · 29/12/2008 13:23

SPB - there's something weird about that quote actually - they use your non-seasonal name which is quite different from your seasonal one. I guess the author is a mumsnetter then.

JV - it's fine to keep them in the airing cupboard for a bit but when they grow up they will want a little tiny nest of their own you know.

StealthPoHoHoHo · 29/12/2008 13:24

no, i hadn't changed by then

hunkermunker · 29/12/2008 13:25

Is anyone who is a "known Moldie poster" ever going to be able to post here again without people being unpleasant to them?

StealthPoHoHoHo · 29/12/2008 13:25

So put down your "Elivs is alive" banner, dear
[pats NL's head]

Gobbledigook · 29/12/2008 13:25

'Special site'

Oh do grow up.

NorthernLurker · 29/12/2008 13:25

Oh good I can put my fevered imagination to rest then!

JeremyVile · 29/12/2008 13:27

HunkerMunker - Aitch springs to mind.

Aitch · 29/12/2008 13:27

colbeck, i think twig was mentioned a lot last night, really nastily, hence the deletions. i think every one of you has gone completely mad.

PS two of the quotes in the telegraph piece were from me, by the way. i never knew my peers were so unbelievably sloppy.

lou33 · 29/12/2008 13:27

i have no idea who is and who isnt on what site now

if i was told i would forget in an hour no doubt

doesnt matter enough

give each other a hug, you know you want to

Tiggiwinkle · 29/12/2008 13:27

Take a look at yourself. Why do you keep making these little forays just to have digs?

Tiggiwinkle · 29/12/2008 13:28

That was to gdg by the way.

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 29/12/2008 13:28

sorry, did I miss anything? I have been playing squash with my good friend The Most Reverend Desmond Tutu, Archbishop Emeritus of Cape Town.

Aitch · 29/12/2008 13:28

x-posted with JV.

but i'm not feeling welcome at all. this is descending into really nasty, low territory...

StealthPoHoHoHo · 29/12/2008 13:28

"From" you Aitch?
You mean they were your quotes?

MumofBaby · 29/12/2008 13:28

I am THE only person on MN who didn't know about Moldies. Please can someone explain exactly what the situation is with this? Does it mean that the rest of us on MN are now regarded in the same way as netmums? Or does it mean that we are now free from the belittling of some of the 'oldies'. How long do you have to be on MN to be an oldie by the way? I've changed name/ e-mail accounts now and again but I've been here 2 years. Do I not count?

hunkermunker · 29/12/2008 13:29

Colbeck, Twiglett was mentioned on this thread last night in several rather unpleasant posts. You won't see them now - they've been deleted.
