If you (still) feel the need to discuss Moldies, please do it here so folks can hide this if they want to.

Well hopefully the title says it all. There's been a suggestion, and we agree, that as we did with Baby P and the Mc Canns we just have one thread where anyone who feels they still have anything to add on this subject can post and those who'd rather move on can hide it away.

It feels strange to put this thread in site stuff as we are definitely not wanting to encourage further discussion of Moldies (we have presents to wrap too you know ) but we weren't sure where else to put it.

We will delete any new Moldies threads that are started, so please feel free to report them in case we miss any (what with wrapping the presents and all...)

And if you do want to carry on the discussion please remember that Mumsnet's here to make everyone's lives easier and not the reverse, and that Christmas is a time of goodwill to all mumsnetters past, present and future

Thanks,
MNHQ

Of course I was Head Girl

Hulababy · 23/12/2008 22:50

Not seen survivors cornsilk - so not sure. What they are like depends on type of prison. We had YO and adult male offenders, from 17y upwards. The 17-21yo were in for anythign from burglary and drugs to murder and rape.

cornsilk · 23/12/2008 22:50

eeek Hula!

morningpaper · 23/12/2008 22:50

One possible other group are the "righteous indignation" posters - the ones who are upset at "the situation" and the morals and/or ethics of people on Moldies - they also fan the flames and give the latter two groups I've just mentioned further ammunition. I also include those posters who are adding drips and dregs of their own fleeting experience on Moldies about "how it's run" and how morally bankrupt everyone on there is - and that saddens me, really, because I don't think anyone on there is as unpleasant as is being made out.

OK this is ME and ONEBAT

Hunker, please, if you want to email me, I'll tell you my side of the story

Quattrocento · 23/12/2008 22:52

Hunker on the offensive. The more moldies come and post and justify their position, the more the flames get fanned. The ruck's dying down now. Just let it go - it'll all be forgotten soon.

FWIW you haven't come close to summarising all the positions.

Hulababy · 23/12/2008 22:52

lol, you get used to it. Does sometimes sound odd when you come home to DH talking of a "nice lad" you have chatted to, then realising what he was in for! We had some very high profile 17-21y lifers in.

NotanOtter · 23/12/2008 22:53

i can imagine Hula

Hulababy · 23/12/2008 22:54

Happy Christmas to all of you! Hope it is a good one!

Tinker · 23/12/2008 22:55

Ah, a Reluctant Worshippers thread would explain me wondering who you are - being a non-reluctant non-worshipper

cornsilk · 23/12/2008 22:55

Did you teach on a one to one basis Hula?

cornsilk · 23/12/2008 22:56

Oh you're off to bed - night!

I am signing off as - oover and aboove the rotting freakin' celebration comestibles - I have NINE HOURS of cooking/wrapping cleaning to catch up with. Tonight. but can't bcs dd is ill and waking up screaming. I am griddling courgettes right now, and the smoke alarm is.. well, alarmed.

I admire you Wilf, but having been there and argued it through, I can't quite swallow the no choice argument. And in any case, don't we teach our kids that if they hurt someone even by accident, they must apologize without reservation?

i don't know what to do, but i do know what's not working iyswim

Hulababy · 23/12/2008 22:58

Just about to go cornsilk:

I didn;t teach. I did one to one interviews with the men to discuss their long terms plans and how they could work towards achieving their goals whilst inside. I worked one to one thoughout; you get sed to it.

ruty · 23/12/2008 22:59

ok sorry MP i know it is base and childish but it tickled me [see what i did there?]

Sorry for your shit day onebat, truly. I have had a splendid argument with dh, to get the christmas spirit rolling. All lovey dovey now thankfully but if i wasn't breastfeeding i'd be seriously pissed by now.

although revjustabout you might find me popping by now as I never knew what that thread as and Ruty and I tend to have similarish Christian ideas (even if she was no help with Hinduism homework)

ruty · 23/12/2008 23:01

griddling courgettes? Why would anyone ever have to do that? [sorry about dd btw my dd just getting better fingers crossed]

EffiePerine · 23/12/2008 23:02

Onebat: any way you can cancel the big dinner and have pizza instead? Griddling courgettes at 11pm will send you mad (maaaaaad I tell you)

Oh and had it all not bolo0wn up it would have been easy

ds1 doesnt get social interactions so I have taught him, even if he doesn't understand why someone is upset, that 'I am sorry you are hurt' is a wonderful phrase

Not you nte sorry for what i DID (BECUASE OFTEN HE ISNT, OR DOESNT KNOW WHAT IT WAS)

BUT JUST ACKNOWLEDGING THAT PEOPLE ARE HURT

SORRY for caps, baby keyboard happy, really not shouting
