Well hopefully the title says it all. There's been a suggestion, and we agree, that as we did with Baby P and the Mc Canns we just have one thread where anyone who feels they still have anything to add on this subject can post and those who'd rather move on can hide it away.

It feels strange to put this thread in site stuff as we are definitely not wanting to encourage further discussion of Moldies (we have presents to wrap too you know ) but we weren't sure where else to put it.

We will delete any new Moldies threads that are started, so please feel free to report them in case we miss any (what with wrapping the presents and all...)

And if you do want to carry on the discussion please remember that Mumsnet's here to make everyone's lives easier and not the reverse, and that Christmas is a time of goodwill to all mumsnetters past, present and future

Thanks,
MNHQ

expatinscotland · 23/12/2008 22:42

i am cooking our turkey tomorrow.

because we have this cooker thing, and it's a right piece of shit.

it sucks royal dick.

the bottom is fan-assisted and i call it 'the flame thrower'.

it's that bad.

so i'm going to do the turkey tomorrow and then Xmas day the other stuff.

i like to hear the Queen's speech, because i always wonder which brooch she'll be wearing.

she has the best of all brooches in all the world.

and for all anyone slags her, she's one tough old bird and slag away she will probably outlive you fuckers.

Hulababy · 23/12/2008 22:43

cornsilk - advertised in local freebie newspaper, TES and also on the individual college webstes. Prison education is run by colleges not prisons. I was employed by The Manchester College (formerly City College Manchester) for example. They appear to run a lot of the northern prison eds.

GoodWilfToAllMN · 23/12/2008 22:43

she is called justabout Tinker and she morphs becoming justabout this that and the other according to her mood/need.

She is funny and has a good blog and another one about her other interests which include, er, god, being a vicar or summat.

ilovelovemydog · 23/12/2008 22:43

battery operated candles? What does the batter operate?

Yankee Candles for me - there's one that smells like Copperstone

the queen is class.

i don't agree with monarchy like um stuff. and titles and that sort of um, what is that shit?

but that queen, well, she's no woman. she's a ladee, brooches and all.

can't say the same about her kin, sadly, but she's the real McCoy, as we say round my parts.

Hulababy · 23/12/2008 22:45

lol. FWIW I did enjoy working in the prison. It was challenging but so interesting. Sadly because of the emotional/hormonal stuff it was just not the right environment for me of late.

Quattrocento · 23/12/2008 22:45

ROFL at 'Oh, that Jim Williams just shot somebody. Canape?'

I am cured of my canape habit... well, cured of making them at least.

Tinker · 23/12/2008 22:45

Aha, thank you Wilf.

cornsilk · 23/12/2008 22:45

But have you been reported to MNHQ roisin?

Hulababy · 23/12/2008 22:45

Me neither Roisin. I am uninvited from my own secret forum!!!

roisin · 23/12/2008 22:46

I don't think so cornsilk? Would I know if I had?

cornsilk · 23/12/2008 22:46

Hula I imagine all the inmates to be a bit like Max Beesley from Survivors.

hunkermunker · 23/12/2008 22:47

Wilf, that's a really good post.

People are reacting to this differently based on their history with posters who've posted to say they post on Moldies (for whatever reason).

For some, the anger is completely real, they've been very hurt by what they're feeling is a personal slight, a deliberate act of unkindness. And if it feels like that, for that person, then that's what it is. It doesn't really matter that that wasn't the intention, because they've been upset by the result. I am really very sorry about this and I hope there's a way to rectify the relationships between people who feel betrayed by their friends.

For others, it seems there's a "Well, I'm not upset for me, but I am upset on behalf of x, y or z longstanding MNer" - which further fuels the fire but doesn't really add anything to the debate [disclaimer: of course you have the right to post it, but I don't have to think it's helpful!]

And for still others, it seems this is an excuse to knock seven bells out of people they've always disliked from afar, but this time with a "free pass" - because if anyone were to challenge their ire - well, it's not possible to say, "Look, I don't think you're actually all that upset, you just want to have a pop at me" - is it?!

One possible other group are the "righteous indignation" posters - the ones who are upset at "the situation" and the morals and/or ethics of people on Moldies - they also fan the flames and give the latter two groups I've just mentioned further ammunition. I also include those posters who are adding drips and dregs of their own fleeting experience on Moldies about "how it's run" and how morally bankrupt everyone on there is - and that saddens me, really, because I don't think anyone on there is as unpleasant as is being made out.

Then there are those saying it doesn't really matter and they can understand why it was set up and meh, really.

There's probably more voices, but they're the ones I can think of at the moment - the ones that are coming across . There are shades of in-between in all of them, I guess.

And Wilf probably made her really good post ages ago now and if she's just made one that says "Yeah, but in all of this, I think it's Hunker that comes out the worst" I'll sob.

expatinscotland · 23/12/2008 22:47

predictable!?

when i nominated roisin ages ago and somehow it got lost and i was away from online then. always thought of roisin and her fine taste in books. .

i love Yankee Candles, 'Silver Bells'.

tried 'Mandarin and Cranberry'.

not as good as Silver Bells.

cornsilk · 23/12/2008 22:47

I don't know! Someone once told me they were reporting me. I was quite proud.

morningpaper · 23/12/2008 22:47

Hula I imagine all the inmates to be a bit like Max Beesley from Survivors.

woof

NotanOtter · 23/12/2008 22:48

hunkermunker · 23/12/2008 22:49

(Phew! Wilf, your 22:26 and 22:30 posts were both excellent)
