Just a thought - if you're going to be 'retiring' chat threads from now on, can we have a little section of golden oldies saved? It would be tragic to lose the grapes or tablecloth woman, and I've been looking fruitlessly (saddo I know) for the blind date in the bluebell woods thread since someone reminded me of it yesterday. Any chance? Maybe a few favourites stored somewhere?
Anyone else got special favourites?
My vote also goes to:
"Am I dirty"
"Leaking after bath"

Is the bluebell wood one gone for ever?

the clothes to bed thread although you wouldn't expect it from the title!

LittleRedRidingHood · 15/03/2005 16:39

What was the strawberry thread - Can anyone do a link?

jangly · 15/03/2005 16:43

jangly · 15/03/2005 16:47

and here! part 2

SleepyJess · 15/03/2005 16:51

PML just read the Brians one.. going on to the others. But PLEASE give me the gist of some the withdrawn messages!!! Were they full of profanity??!! (Mostly by ks.. one by Robin somebody...)

("Stuff a Pampers care mat down your gusset... LOLOL! )

SleepyJess · 15/03/2005 17:00

Hahahahahahaha!!! Clothes-to-bed thread.. .. see what you mean! What on earth did Twinkie say??! I am obsessed with removed postings on amusing threads! Can anyone remember?

(onto the next thread,... towels I think.. I getting a potted history of MN here.. )

Marina · 15/03/2005 17:07

Sometimes posters needed all their postings withdrawn at various times for various, good reasons. Even way back then Tech could only really manage this with a scorched earth approach, hence some perfectly harmless, often amusing posts having to go too.
Mind you, there could well also have been profanity and dissent there in places

flamesparrow · 15/03/2005 17:21

This is great... enjoying all these oodles, but neeeed to get stuff done so I have saved my remaining ones to faves...

SleepyJess · 15/03/2005 17:24

I'm confused with the Strawberry threads.. is there a happy ending? it took me a while to realise I was reading backwards as the threads are flipped.. d'oh! Did Skie's DD get a suitable Stawberry back???? WHAT HAPPENED??! It ends abruptly on 5th Feb 2004!!

marthamoo · 15/03/2005 17:27

Oooh more more! I have to go and cook the dinner now (damn demanding family requiring sustenance...grrrr) but I will be back later to peruse at my leisure.

Lakeland have discontinued my lovely towels now...

jangly · 15/03/2005 17:31

For more on Strawberry, put "Skie" in as author's name in archives Search. Emmatmg provided the replacement. There are follow up threads.

SleepyJess · 15/03/2005 17:33

I tried that.. I am in such a mess.. have a million MN windows open... arrghhhh!

SleepyJess - LOL

jangly · 15/03/2005 17:48

Oh I remember! She found it behind the washing machine! (Skie that is) Emma's was a b it new looking. Think that's right.

Twiglett · 15/03/2005 17:51

You have to save the 'Please don't post on THIS thread' thread .. you just have to

after all it is responsible for my favourite ever mumsnet advice

paraphrasing it was something like:
"if you have a problem with a post just email [email protected]"

tamum · 15/03/2005 17:56

Ooh yes, another vote for that one Twiglett I might even go and read it again.... how many times were people asked to remember the MN philosophy????

jangly · 15/03/2005 17:58

This sounds silly, but I think Beetroot's recent thread about her guinea pigs was a bit of a classic. It showed a lot of caring - sort of, mumsnetters helping another person through a situation in real time.

tech · 15/03/2005 18:53

Hello, just to set your mind at rest - "retired" threads won't disappear and you'll still be able to search for them - you just won't be able to add new messages and revive them.....

Toothache · 15/03/2005 21:16

OMG I just re-read the Brians thread and I'm laughing so much I've had to take my Inhaler!!!!!

wheeeeeeze

turquoise · 15/03/2005 21:45
