Daddycool will be really offended getting confused with Happydaddy!

Amberlilli · 09/03/2005 15:17

Please excuse my ignorance but can someone please explain what a chat room is and how it is different to normal posting.
Why is there such a heated debate about it.
Sorry for being thick!!

No. (like your new name Enid)

suzywong · 09/03/2005 15:22

hello bundle!

well I will say no too but I'm just a curmudgeon. Lots of the chat passes me by as I happily post tedium on 'what to feed my 15 month old' but then when things flare up I feel compelled to waste lots of time working out what on earth is going on. Actually on second thoughts maybe if there was a chatroom I woudln't even know about most of the rows etc so wouldn't waste my time...
Suppose the key thing is if it puts off the people who post advice and also have interesting views on the wider world - suspect actually we'd have more of a separating out of people using mn in different ways, which maybe would be ok.
Have to say this is the only site I find remotely user friendly though in terms of the layout of the talk section so please don't change that! I'd also hate it if different bits of the 'community' were all locked away in different chatrooms, as I'm another one who has learned immeasurably from the different perspectives here especially the special needs mums.
There, that was a clear and decisive opinion wasn't it?

The more I think about this the worse it seems

Divisive, cliquey, imagine all those threads that will be started the next day 'For those of us who were in chat last night' etc etc. Nonononononononono!

The whole point of MN for me is that I can log off for a few, er, minutes , and then come back and see what I've missed.

What do we want? No chat!
When do we want it? Neveeeeerrrrrrr!

Elliott, that was a really good point about bits of the community being locked away in different chatrooms. I too have learnt loads of tolerance from reading threads on here.

Snafu, nice chant
