Vote here if you like the idea of adding a chatroom

me

Keane · 09/03/2005 13:58

alot of of asked before and it was a no

Gwenick · 09/03/2005 13:59

I'm wondering if those dead set against it have images of the Yahoo and 'public' chat forums around without any real experience of chatrooms on a smaller scale - such as sites like this. Perhaps full of 'media' images of pervs, text speak and swearing.

GeorginaA · 09/03/2005 14:03

Gwenwick: can't speak for anyone else, but I'm used to small and large scale. I still don't like 'em. Oh, and mumsnet isn't really that small any more, in case you haven't noticed

SeaShells · 09/03/2005 14:04

I think alot of the 'no' supporters have no experience of chatrooms altogether, I'm doubtful as to whether I will even use it, I just think it would be nice if those who would like it actually have a choice! As I said jokingly on another thread, I don't personally post on some topics on MN talk, nor do I use the reviews area for example, so should they just not be there then? They don't have to go there if it's not their cup of tea, just like the recipes section isn't mine IYKWIM.
Besides all people on the chat area will have to be registered exactly the same as any poster is, I just don't understand this 'not a chance' mentality at all!

flamesparrow · 09/03/2005 14:22

I noticed that as well SS - the amount of "I would never/have never" replies there are! How can you be so against something you haven't tried?

I have one on my baby site - ok we're nowhere near as big as this, but there is nothing sexual or anything about it at all - just mums looking for a chat. It is so much easier to get to know people within a chat situation than on threads. The chat in the room very very rarely is ever mentioned on the normal boards which just continue as they are... why will it destroy the feeling of MN so much???

oooooooooh, YES... so long as it doesn't require a software download.

Roobedoo · 09/03/2005 14:51

I'm quite new to MN and I love it - never used a chatroom but sounds like another excuse to log on, so big yes from me (will need instructions though).

tamula · 09/03/2005 14:52

Yes please and thank-you

Gwenick · 09/03/2005 14:52

ooo that was very polite tamula - I'm more of the gimme gimme gimme status

tamula · 09/03/2005 14:54

a bit of both should work its magic!

flamesparrow · 09/03/2005 15:00

I'm a gimme gimme with hand graspy action, and foot stamping!!!

noddyholder · 09/03/2005 15:16

thanks sally strawberry I personally don't think I could keep up with that and I feel it would be very exclusive but I have no objection to others having a go
