And by that I mean this

Perhaps it could flash on and off at full moon spouting calming poetry?

crikey, our very own lunar eclipse. we're looking into it.

This has just been brought to my attention.

I've fended off various not-all-that-funny jokes about someone having switched off the moon, the moon needing a reboot, someone needs to CTRL+ALT+DEL the moon, etc. And it's still knackered.

In the mean time, Slur et al, you might want to hit the refresh button in your browser. And no, it doesn't mean we'll respond to every whimsical request... It's really just a ploy to get you off our backs whilst I find someone to fix it properly.

SaintG, we do realise that right now the moon is dark. However, there was a problem with the calculator which would have meant that it never would have been anything but dark. That's sorted hopefully, though someone should remind us that it will break again at the end of the year if we don't fix it properly.

And with that, normal moon service is resumed. If you prefer Slur's moon, as it shall henceforth be known, don't click refresh on a MN Talk page and you can enjoy it for the rest of the day.

SaintGeorge, thanks for the link. Alas, we can't use that for various dull technical reasons. The one we have is perfectly fine, it's just it uses a lookup table of sorts and we've only populated it until the end of the year.

Someone emailed me this, which I quite liked:
