i want to review books that weren't all that great and give people warning, or books that I really enjoyed but weren't the best of the year or I read em when I was 15 etc.

Best light read, best book of the year are all very positive parentingish, but some books are just plain sh*t

Oops - that was flame

The Alchemist was utter shite

GeraldineMumsnet · 22/09/2008 12:33

What about adding your withering criticisms here, in the uncompromisingly titled Worst Book of the Year category?

NappiesGalore · 22/09/2008 12:36

But that is very much the other way - like the book I've just finished. I didn't hate it, I wouldn't tell other people NOT to read it, but it was a bit nyeh.

We need just a general "books you read once and want to review for a comp entry" section

GeraldineMumsnet · 22/09/2008 13:56

will need to ponder that one and see what the other MNHQ bods think. watch this space (not literally)

Agree - there are some books which are OK, not utter rubbish but not good, more kind of pointless.
