A dads section

As a new dad and an avid mumsnet reader (of two weeks!) would it be possible to have a dad's section of the message board. I'd be happy to moderate/help out.

If there already is one, then please point me in the direction and I apologise for wasting everyone's time!

I can't speak for anyone else, but I am just interested to know what men's take on familiar subjects is. So, no, I don't want to read about men's opinions on Chelsea's chances of winning the double (what does that mean even? - no don't tell me!) but it would be interesting to read men's opinions on division of labour in the home, or how they feel seeing their partner give birth, etc.

That would be quite interesting and yes maybe having our own section would get the dads on this site talking about these sort of issues. Depends if we thought all you ladies were just waiting in the wings to make judgement

Lonelymum · 13/02/2005 09:24

Fair point. I am not sure you would have the floor to yourselves for long if you take my meaning.

not much point to dads section then!?

I once eavesdropped on a men's loo (it was not as bad as it sounds, the women's loo was right next to it with a very bad partition wall so there was no soundproofing at all) and was delighted to hear a conversation along the lines of "WHAT the f* is he wearing? I mean - yellow!" "I know - completely washes him out" "Yeah - doesn't suit him at all." To my knowledge, none of these men were gay!

pmsl caligula! is this true guys? is that really what you talk about in loos? think a mens section is a good idea too...after all, where else should thousands of pre menstrual women go to vent their anger?

nightowl · 14/02/2005 02:52

only joking...i honestly do think its a good idea!

hsbcarter · 14/02/2005 06:41

As the person who originally started this thread, I obviously don't want a thread where it is just me talking all the time however, I think there are a few topics where us dads would like to discuss.

Unless there are other men asking for it, I will not pursue it any further. Thanks for all your responses.

hsb, one reason why dads have not replied to your suggestion could be that they don't log on at the weekends and the site is less busy then. Wait and see it the mumsnet surfers at work brigade reply. Mind you do any men log onto mumsnet at work?

You might also pick up a few stay at home dads - those who only log onto mumsnet when their partners are working.

Hang on in there!

hey dont lose hope! im think it would benefit a lot of people. its sometimes nice as well for a woman to hear "the views of the other side"!!
