New Start Thread and Add Post icons?

AcuteGoose · Yesterday 00:00

Is this new? Icons have appeared at the bottom of the page, but only when I am reading without being logged in. After they log in, the icons disappear.

The problem is that in order to start a new thread or add a post, I have to be logged in anyway. These icons are useless unless you're logged in!

So, what's the point of them? Irritating, if not completely obstructive, so would be nice if they weren't there.

Anyone else notice this?

Have attached screenshot, might not load straight away.

I assume it's to encourage more people to create an account, if they choose that option and then find they can't make a post or start a thread until they've joined.

@AcuteGoose we're trialling some new actions for less-active or new users. We want to make starting a thread more visible and easier for users who are less familiar with the site.

As you are familiar with the site, once you're logged-in you won't be included in the trial. We really appreciate your feedback though, and will take it into consideration for future changes.

Many thanks for the clarification.. I suppose the only feedback is that I keep hitting the icons when I'm scrolling. I do often just read to quickly catch up, without logging in. You perhaps could consider putting the icons somewhere else, left side of screen perhaps? Except that, on a phone, as opposed to a larger screen, not sure there's enough room to make a difference?

Anyway, thanks for responding.
