Please could you tell me how editing posts is rationed - thanks

I appreciate the "edit" function and perhaps it's made me lazy.
I always preview my posts and make any alterations that I feel are needed, but there's something about seeing the actual post that makes me notice further SPAG or style errors.
Usually it's a synonym or adjusting the spacing or stress. Occasionally I've added a sentence to clarify what I've said.
Anyone can see my alterations as they're still there on the "edited" button and they never change my meaning.
However, just now, I tried to edit a post and was told I couldn't, because I'd edited too many posts recently.
It wasn't a problem: the meaning would have the same. I only wanted to change a space and, as I said, perhaps I've got lazy on previewing.
I can understand the number of edits on a single post could be curtailed, but was surprised you could only edit a certain number of different posts over a particular time.

Anyway, MN, please could you tell me how you ration edits and I'll try to be mindful how I use that useful function.
TIA

Hi @LaMarschallin,

Thanks for getting in touch. We have limits on the number of edits that can be made within a certain period of time, to help protect posts and prevent misuse of the edit function.

I think I’ve found the post you’re talking about, and I can see that several edits were submitted within the same minute. We’re just trying to work out exactly what happened here. Do you remember roughly how many times you tried to edit the post? And was there any delay when you tried to submit an edit?

I totally see why you want to prevent misuse of the edit function. It would be very easy to make something sound completely different with a few edits.

It was a post on Sounding the klaxon for Sleb Masterchef about t-shirts.
I'd definitely fiddled about with it (I'm hopelessly pernickity) but I wasn't allowed to add a space.
It's not a problem but, if I know there's a limit, I'll be more careful with editing.

Eta Once I read this in pink, I thought it needed tweaking 🤦🏻‍♀️

No problem, let us know if anything else pops up!

Thanks.
So I don't know what the limit is or if there is one which would have been helpful, but I'll try not to over-edit.
