iPhone Safari keeps crashing on most threads

iPhone with safari browser is pretty much unusable, the browser crashes for every open tab and I can’t do anything until I’ve swipe closed it. Sometimes I might get a thread to load on the third or fourth attempt, then once it’s loaded I’m ok for a bit.

I don't have this problem on site stuff which suggests it’s the ads that are the problem, it also runs fine on private browsing so cookies must also factor in.

Hi @Moltenpink,

Thanks for getting in touch, and sorry you're having this issue.

Do you know roughly when it started happening? Did it come on suddenly, or has it been happening intermittently?

We're going to take a look on our side, but in the meantime, could you try clearing your Safari cache to see if that helps?

On your iPhone, you can do this by going to Settings > Apps > Safari > Clear History and Website Data. Tap Clear History and Website Data, then confirm. Please be aware that this will clear your browsing history and website data from Safari.

Once you've done that, please try Mumsnet again and let us know if you're still having the same problem.

This has been happening for a couple of days for me. Freezes all the windows on Safari and, as the OP says can only be solved by swiping the MN window. I really don’t want to clear all my history so please try and find the cause.

Hi @Chemenger,

There is a way you can clear your cache just for Mumsnet, without clearing your history and data for other sites. Would you mind giving that a go and seeing if it helps?

Go to Settings > Apps > Safari > Advanced (at the very bottom of the page) > Website Data

Then:

  1. Search for Mumsnet
  2. Swipe left on Mumsnet
  3. Tap Delete

Once you’ve done that, please give it another try and let us know if you’re still having the same issue. Thanks!

I did try this before, when I get to Website data it come back with 0 bytes.

The problem, whatever it was, seems to have resolved itself now anyway.

Thanks for letting us know @Chemenger. We're going to continue looking into it on our side, but if it happens again, please let us know!
