Wrong (or very odd!) question in pet food survey.

For each pet food brand you rated, please briefly explain why you gave it that rating. What did your child like or dislike about it? What did you think of it as a parent?

I know there is a COL crisis but I hope no one's family is reduced to dining off pet food!

Yes- I just went to complete it and was baffled! Also did they mean ‘Christmas food’ in the question before? Never seen Christmas specific cat food!

They sometimes sell Christmas stockings for dogs and cats.

Bought cat ones on occasion in the past (in the January sales, I'm not crazy!). Cats turned noses up in disgust at contents.

I have seen things marketed as Christmas pet food - I usually buy my cats something like a Gourmet pouch as a Christmas treat. I have tried in the past giving them some roast meat off the bird we eat, but they turned their noses up at our Christmas dinner😆

@LeahLine mine have been know to run down the garden with a turkey leg swiped off the table.

I have got things like advent calendars before and they tend to get a fancy pouch of posh food as well. They aren’t fussy they try and eat everything

@ghostyslovesheets I bought my cats stockings once, hid them away for Christmas Day. Came home from work a couple of days later and they'd found the stockings, torn them open and eaten everything out of them that they fancied 😆

My dog's food was more expensive than my food 🤦‍♂️

It's true you can end up paying a fortune for some pet foods @HappiestSleeping especially if your pet needs a specialist diet. Our cats routinely have Purina One, so the cost per meal doesn't exceed the cost per our meals, although I haven't worked out what the cost would be if consuming human-level amounts of it per day!

There was a poster on here ages ago on a thread about Dreamies who claimed they were really delicious but I don't think I could bring myself to try cat food unless there'd been nuclear war or similar and it was the only form of nutrition available. If push came to shove I'd pick cat food over dog food.

Eww, definitely not cat food. Maybe dog biscuits at a push, but I think I'd rather eat my own arm.

My dog was allergic to chicken of all things.

Back in the late 1990s I was trying to lose some weight and went on a strict calorie-counting diet. I sensed I was perhaps being over-restrictive when I was feeding my cats - the cats I had then used to eat Whiskas out of a tin - and I found the smell of 'Duck and Heart' flavour cat food was making me feel hungry😆

Ah, the good old days when cat food came in tins, and in umpteen flavours so your cats never got bored. I used to buy 16 tins at a time, all different flavours and brands. Damn sight cheaper than these ridiculous packets.

Mine get dry food and tins. If I can I get yellow sticker pouches.

I bought two boxes of yellow sticker pouches that worked out about 8p a pouch.
The bad news is that each box had a split pouch in.
Lovely - maggoty pouches I had to wash and dry.

When they were eating the pouches, my recycling bin was a lot emptier. At least with the tins, despite the unpleasant task of washing the tins, they can be recycled.
