Flashing ads

I don’t know if I should post this here but I’ve been avoiding MN lately because of the constantly flashing ads at the top of my screen. I’m ND and the flashing makes me anxious and dizzy. Is there anything I can do to stop these ads?

I've contacted MN about this too as flashing stuff can bring on a migraine

Hi @merrymelody

Thanks for posting this, and I'm really sorry the ads have been making you feel that way. That's not okay and we want to get it sorted.

A few things that'll help us find which ad is doing it: are you on desktop or mobile, and which browser? It sounds like it's the banner right at the top. Is that right? And when it flashes, is it the same ad each time or different ones? A screenshot, or the link it takes you to if you tap it, would really help us work out who it's from.

@RaraRachael Same for you if you can share anything, it all helps us track it down.

Thanks both, and bear with us while we look into this.

I’m now getting a banner ad for Mumsnet voices, which doesn’t flash, with an occasional switch to an ad for Gossip Harbour, which does.

It’s also really annoying when I’ve got my iPad in dark mode at night so I don’t disturb DH, but still have to put up with bright flashing ads on the page.

Hi @merrymelody

Good news, I've now blocked the Gossip Harbour ads, so you shouldn't see those flashing ones again.

@rosesarebluer , thanks for flagging this too. If either of you sees an ad flashing, please send me a screenshot or the link it takes you to if you tap it, and I'll get it blocked.

Thanks both.
