Error message:

Gateway time-out
The web server reported a gateway time-out error.
Ray ID: **
Your IP address: **
Error reference number: 504
Cloudflare Location: London
Apologies, there seems to be an issue.
Please check back in a few moments.
RayID: **

** I have removed the numbers as not sure if they identify me.

AI has told me to say to MNHQ(!)

  • The Error: Cloudflare 504 Gateway Timeout (London).
  • The Trigger: Clicking the "Start a thread" option.
  • The Duration: Happening consistently for a couple of days.
  • Your Setup: Windows 11 desktop using the Firefox browser.
  • The Contrast: You can read and reply to existing threads with zero issues.

What AI also says, but not saying it is true, that the problem is caused by a combination of the AI title generator and "enhanced script tracker" when using the option "Start a thread".

Anyone else having this problem.

And @MNHQ do you recognise this as an issue?

This is still happening today.

What is going on?

No problems any where else

Hi @IwantToRetire,

Thanks for reaching out with all that information, and we’re very sorry you experienced this.

This kind of error can sometimes be linked to your internet connection, so it would be useful to know whether you were using Wi-Fi or 4G/5G when the errors occurred.

It would also be super useful for us to know your Ray ID, if you still have access to that information. If you do, would you mind pinging it over to me in a PM so we can make sure your information is kept secure?

Thanks so much for your patience 🙏

@AmeliaPMumsnet

Just to say I was able to add a new thread just now.

So that's 2 out of 3 today have been okay.

I wonder if it is related to the time of day.

(I have no idea what any of the error message means, whether it is Cloudflare playing up or my local internet connection or ... )

Thanks for the update and for sending all the info over! I’ve shared everything with my team and we’re taking a look. I’ll let you know as soon as I have any further updates.

In the meantime, if it happens again, could you please let us know?

@AmeliaPMumsnet

Was able to add 3 (!) new threads between 5-6pm 12 August.

No delay at all when clicking on the option. And no hitches or slow response when clicking on post.

Not sure what this mean.
