Hi @PsychoSyd,

Thanks for sharing your device details up front, and sorry you're still experiencing some overheating. We've recently implemented some changes which should help with this, but we think the warmer weather at the moment might also be contributing.

I understand you've experienced this before, but could you let me know whether it's only got worse today, or if you've noticed it over the last few days as well?

Could you also let me know what you were doing in the lead up to your phone getting warmer? For example, were you browsing a particularly long thread, trying to post, or doing something else?

Thanks for your patience.

PsychoSyd · 28/07/2026 20:29

Hi @AmeliaPMumsnet, I was just browsing active threads. Not long threads. I've only just noticed it today. Thank you 😀

i’ve had it a couple of weeks too. Had it previously along with others and MN fixed it. no more overheating. But it’s back. Along with Rightmove but they didn’t even reply to my email. Everywhere else is fine.

Also 26.5.2.

Thanks both. We're continuing to look into this and will let you know if there are any updates.

If it happens again and there are ads on the screen, could you please take a screenshot of the ads you can see and share it with us here? We suspect it may be related to specific ad campaigns, which may only be shown at certain times and to certain users.

Also @Elieza, would you mind letting us know which version of the Mumsnet app you're using? You can check this by opening the Mumsnet app and selecting the profile menu in the top right hand corner. The version number should be shown at the bottom of the menu.

Thanks!

I often have this overheating when I use MN on my Chrome laptop , but it's fine on my mobile. No problems with other sites .

I've noticed that when I'm on a long thread that my memory usage is high and this makes the laptop overheat , but when on a short thread like this one , memory is lower and it cools down ,no overheating .

It’s never really been resolved for me. When I pick up my phone I can tell if I haven’t closed MN app down.

It isnt the app it is overheating on duck duck go as well. I hadn't even been on it, its just not closed down.

Every time I do not shut down the tab it overheats. What on earth is causing this?
