Constantly moving ad in app

There is a new immovable advert for a grammar checker at the top of every thread in the app. I cannot continue to read a thread as it scrolls horizontally incessantly. It’s really horrible and making the app unusable for me. Can this please be changed?

This one. The bar scrolls left to right non stop.

I had to stop using the app because of the moving ads. MN doesn’t care as long as they’re generating revenue.

Is the issue that its distracting/annoying? You mentioned "not able to use the app", is that because it's causing other issues whilst scrolling?

The adslot at the top of the page is always present across App and web. We have limited control what individual people see, but are always trying to reduce and remove unwanted/inappropriate ads.

It’s that the ad was a thick bar of constant repetitive movement - it’s so distracting I could not focus to read the threads. It’s finally swapped to another ad for me thank god and whilst this one moves a little I can zone it out after an initial glance. The sheer intensity and repetitiveness of that one meant I could only focus to read by physically covering my screen. It made me so annoyed I would never contemplate the product which surely is the opposite of good advertising. And sent me away from your site when I had planned to browse with a cuppa this morning.

@dogbeck That doesn't sound ideal.

We are trying to work with more ad partner in app so that not only are the ads more varied but are more relevant.

Often we find some advertiser are not always adding a frequency limits to their ads, so we get into situations where they do show more often for a short amount of time. Thankfully this is not often but does happen more in apps due limiting signals compared to the web version.

I can't cope with moving ads as anything constantly moving or flickering like some do can bring on a migraine.

Can we please just have static ads?

As mentioned above, we try to limit these annoying ads and often need to ask which ones you mean.

Is the one attached often on screen? shifting a lot?
