Can we have an option that looks like FT colours or something? These colours are too distinctive for work!

And while I have a privacy screen on my PC it would be great to have a 'grey' option mn or something a leetle less eye catching so that people around me can't see that I am posting here instead of working. I know there is the option of actually working rather than posting here but nah.

I realise this isn't likely to be high on anyone's priority list though!

And instead of flashing adverts for childrens hotels we could have graphs of something that look like FTSE but are actually something more interesting - like a bar chart for number of posters online or something!

WideWebWitch · 25/06/2008 14:24

Yes, and gridlines (joking about that one).
There are LOADS of people posting from work, what do you all do? Do you all have offices or sit where no one can see your screen?

would like option to hide the links and smileys bit on bottom rhs, very eyecatching.

AbbyMumsnet · 25/06/2008 14:28

Re' positioning on priority list... erm, can't see it anywhere, tbh.

WideWebWitch · 25/06/2008 14:29

Oh I know we're not going to get it, I do. I can but ask!

I second all these suggestions, sometimes the big pink adverts at the top of the page really stand out and make it glaringly obvious that I'm not doing something work related! I'm sure it's so obvious coz I click away everytime someone approaches anyway but at least it would make it a little easier on the eye!

mindalina · 25/06/2008 14:30

Hehe, I don't work myself but DP came home recently telling me he'd spotted a mumsnetter in his office thanks to the familiar purple lines

Brangelina · 25/06/2008 14:33

There was another forum somewhere where you can just quick-click and a graph thing pops up. Can't remember what it is, I stumbled onto it by mistake, but surely something like that can be done here?

FAQ · 25/06/2008 14:35

I've seen that too Brangelina (can't remember where though)

NormaStanleyFletcher · 25/06/2008 14:36

You can go to customise talk boards at the top and select "sober workplace"

claricebeansmum · 25/06/2008 14:37

And we could have code names for topic lists...

Marriage/relationships could be "Mergers & Acquisitions"

Chat could be "Market Trends"

egypt · 25/06/2008 14:39

yes i have that NSF, it doesnt stand out at all, no purple lines anywhere!

Iota · 25/06/2008 14:43

have you tried the Mumsnet sober workplace option in the "customise talk board"

not that us SAHMS need to use it

Iota · 25/06/2008 14:44

Oh dear lord that is awful

Phew, so glad I MN at home.

Botbot · 27/06/2008 08:41

I use Sober Workplace but it's still a bit distinctive - I can scroll down quickly from the logo at the top but the smileys give the game away a bit.

I have been known to cut and paste long threads into Word and read them in that - doing a bit of typing around the edges to make it look extra-plausible. Works for me [sneaky emoticon]

WideWebWitch · 29/06/2008 14:16

botbot, great idea, thanks.
