Threads such as Eastenders, Archers, Christmas Sopping, Starmer, WAG.

There's so many of this ilk.

Could they please please please have their own space so I can effing hide it?

Yes, what a good idea. They'd be easier to find for people who do follow them, too.

I know the sort you mean as there are so many in my active threads with stuff I’m not interested in. How would that work though? A lot of them start as a single conversation in the correct topic and just turn out to be really popular. Are you thinking they should be moved? What if they only run to a couple of threads? There is an in the club topic but I don’t know if that’s the right place, I don’t know how popular that topic is. How would someone who has hidden eg the feminist board feel if all the many Sandie Peggie threads had gone in another topic where they wanted to follow Eastenders? I really don’t want to see certain political threads (CITME) because I don’t want to lose my shit and get banned, but I like to occasionally follow that long running thread on The Salt Path or the Style and Beauty Freebies threads. I can’t envision how to make it work. I just hide them on a case by case basis.

I think there's 2 types of long running threads.

One which knows they're long running and proudly embrace that embrace that like The Starmer or Dating, MAFS, Beauty Advent calenders sort of stuff so it could be seen as almost an honour to be of such longevity they get their own Special Corner.

And then ones that evolve into multi threads but will probably peter out eventually like the Peggie, Allotment, or Ford Ranger types threads.

Am I remembering Ford Ranger correctly? Remote house, car parked in their land so they locked it in behind big effoff gates? I seem to recall a Toby Carvery involvement. Somewhere.

I digress. Hmm

Naah that's tacky.

Someone with a brighter mind than mine could sort something if the plan comes together.

Just hide them if they’re bothering you that much

Well I do, Jane.

But it's a lot of hiding, dear.

Must be 3 or 4 extra clicks a day.

It's doable though. I've just looked at the amount of threads I've hidden đŸ˜‚

They have their own spaces. Christmas threads are in Christmas and Archers threads are all in Radio Addicts. There's not a lot else in Radio Addicts so you could hide the whole topic if it's a problem. I start the threads and they're not that fast moving so I'm surprised it's a problem. We normally get through one thread every three or four weeks.

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 03/07/2026 00:03

If people are new to the Archers they will look for it in the radio section, and might not realise it’s a long running thing. And the same for lots of the other long running ones.
