Problems selecting text on Mumsnet using an iPhone

hi

i can’t get the ‘select text’ tool to work on my iPhone. I highlight a word then try to drag the blue line along to select more text, but it doesn’t work - and then it thinks I’m trying to swipe right 🤷‍♀️ any ideas? MN is the only site I have this issue on.

Mine works fine 🤷‍♀️

Actually no it doesn’t 😂

How weird.

It hasn’t worked for ages for me. It would be so useful for quoting a bit of a post.

Hi all, thanks so much for your patience while we've been looking into this.

We've now been able to recreate this issue on our end when using Chrome, so we're investigating what's causing it.

If you're experiencing the same problem, would you mind letting us know which browser you're using? It would be especially helpful to know whether you're using Chrome or a different browser (such as Safari), as that will help us narrow things down further.

Thanks again for bearing with us while we investigate. We'll update you as soon as we know more.

On the app for me

Chemenger · 26/06/2026 11:38

I’m using Safari.

Safari is the most commonly used browser on iPhones so I’m a bit surprised MN think testing on Chrome is a good basis.

It is Chrome - on an IPhone 14

Thanks for looking at this.

Thanks @Wofflewaffle, this is super helpful. We're looking into it and we'll let you know as soon as we have any updates.

@Chemenger We've tested this on both Safari and Chrome, as both are widely used to access Mumsnet. We generally recommend Chrome as it's the more stable browser. That said, we've also been able to reproduce the issue, so we're working on a fix and hope to have it in place soon.
