Why has the train crash discussion thread been hidden overnight?

Just wondering why the train crash thread has been hidden? I went to bed and this tragic news was being discussed broadly but respectfully. Checked this morning and it's disappeared. Surely it can't be the nature of the news? Chats about equally horrible current affair situations are regularly discussed here.

It got a bit weird with a couple of posters arguing (not really about the crash, but criticising posts and some back and forth). Maybe it was that?

Some people really would argue with themselves in the mirror.

Thanks @ThroughTheRedDoor . Sounds as if people have once again ruined it for everyone else. Getting really frustrated with the increasing number of posters who can't engage in a discussion of differing opinions without resorting to arguing off topic or personal comments.

I wondered this too.

ThroughTheRedDoor · 20/06/2026 08:56

In fairness there was one poster who went a bit weird. And just kept going with it.

I think we all need to collectively start ignoring weirdoes who are there to antagonise or derail the threads.
I too am guilty of engaging with them sometimes, but going forward that might be the only way to save threads.
There are craoton of trolls here

Hello @KerfuffleShuffle the thread was auto-hidden for review - it should be visible again now. If we're thinking of a different thread, then please link the one you mean. Thank you.
