Can we have a Wanker's Corner?

Hello.

It's been noted in the past that there are some pretentious wankers amongst us who like to discuss some general subjects (eg.Porn, Religion) in a fairly, erm.. academic manner, and that this sometimes seems to intimidate and/or infuriate other posters.

There doesn't seem to be an easy solution to this problem: there's no doubt that people really do feel intimidated and that it might prevent them from posting on a subject that concerns them. It also must feel hijack-y at times.

At the same time, it's hard for the Wanker's to be told that they mustn't post anything that might intimidate.

Would it be possible to have a special place, with very hard chairs to keep us awake, that we may call our own?

Slur, that's very kind of you. It got sorted to a degree (all parents contacded), but with huge negatives (they investigated again, by which time all the boys were saying that ds was 'disrespecdting' their religion quite deliberately, which I\ve asked him about many many times and I"m convinced he's not lying)

I've had recent personal distractions - selling teeny weeny house, would make huge diff to family life - whivh has meant I've taken my eye off ball.

In part, I feel I've already done my shit-stirring - they were quite freaked out and I\ve beenn asked to go for parent-gov - but I should finish the job, and at the mo I'm just not quite up to it. Fucking about on here as light relief from doing 2 yrs accounts in a week in a doomed attempt to get mortgage on 3 bed house.

onebat - hmm that's sort of a bit crap, I'm sorry it didn't work out better particularly regards the shite tunabout on your ds. Who I completely agree is not only telling the truth but also is a lovely kind articulte boy. And regardless, he could tell them they were talking nonsense and still wouldn't deserve what happened nor the reaction of complicity of the teachers involved.

Anyhooo... I wish you luck with finance nightmare, money can be a horrible thing and yes, take a break from defender of the faithless for a bit you've got enough on!

Love to your goregous ones

gigglewitch · 04/07/2008 00:14

will wanker wander back tomorrow

S1ur · 04/07/2008 00:15

lol at some of those typos!

tuna bout - some sort of fish fight????

gore gous ones - horribly gruesome pair perhaps???

onebatmother · 04/07/2008 09:58

they can indeed be fairly gruesome.

YOU ARE MY WANKMEISTER ONEBAT!

I don't care WHAT you say.

Step up to the plate!!!

(Sorry for using that vile expression, it was not at all appropriate for Wankers' Corner!)

ipanemagirl · 04/07/2008 12:24

I think this man, Thomas Wanker, the film composer, should be given immediate lifetime membership of this esteemed Corner if the Wankmeister agrees.

onebatmother · 05/07/2008 20:46

jeez, he's hot hot hot, ipanemagirl!

I have absolutely nothing to say today (or indeed yesterday) so I am putting this thread in my Watched Threads thingy, in the certain hope that one or all of us will reignite in the near future, with an incendiary piece of pure wank.

OP posts:
ipanemagirl · 06/07/2008 23:30

OOO Onebat, How do you do that???

ipanemagirl · 07/07/2008 13:13

I feel that there should be some wankery going on somewhere, surely!

IorekByrnison · 07/07/2008 21:13

I am missing threadwormm. Where is she? I have a dreadful fear that she left in disgust after I compared Fay Weldon to George Eliot.

ipanemagirl · 07/07/2008 22:37

Oh Iorek how fabulously Wanky of you! I respect you for that! I can't imagine how you did that! Fay and George. She He Devil
All I think when I think of George Eliot is Dorothea and creepy Casaubon. Was he writing a dictionary or something?
I confuse Middlemarch with Fingersmith.... not very elevated.....

IorekByrnison · 07/07/2008 23:17

Hmph. Wasn't supposed to be wanky.

It's the deftness with which they both expose the casual hypocrisy of our everyday interactions, you see?

I know a lot of people really don't like Fay Weldon, but I can never quite understand why. Or why her books are invariably packaged up like the dumbest kind of chick lit.

gigglewitch · 07/07/2008 23:30

you'll be going on about bridget jones diaries next
Just as long as you don't compare it to any of the Brontes I won't mind

IorekByrnison · 07/07/2008 23:34

Certainly not that pap. Anyway, it's not Bronte it's Austen, isn't it? But Helen Fielding is no Fay Weldon.

Swedes · 08/07/2008 11:09

Iorek - Yes, where is Threadwworm? I'm missing her too.

ipanemagirl · 08/07/2008 11:11

Oh Iorek forgive any unintended offence I may have given!
I thought Wankers' Corner was for those that took pride in Wankery! Being able to compare Eliot/Weldon does certainly take enough mastery of the subject to come to this corner! I consider calling someone Wanky in this context to be a compliment!

!

IorekByrnison · 08/07/2008 13:50

No need for blushes! I should apologise for my ungraciousness. Thank you for the wank compliment.

I hope Threadwormm hasn't gone for long. Perhaps she has had to deregister because of discipline issues and will return as Threadworn or something.

Threadwworm · 08/07/2008 15:08

I'm around Iorek. Not posting much at the moment. I expect I'll be back.

onebatmother · 08/07/2008 15:36

I agree Iorek re the strange packaging of FW - in the Seventies her jacket designs were soft-focus iirc rather like 'ladies' erotica'.

'Threadworn' is super, Threadie, should the need ever arise.

How are we all? I am grumpy and distracted, having had no luck selling the house. It is very small. I am going to instruct the estate agents to target their advertising towards this sector of the market.

OP posts:
IorekByrnison · 08/07/2008 15:47

That sounds like a good idea about the house marketing. Do you have the right outfit?

I saw the pictures of your house back the way on the thread. It is lovely. If I lived there I would never want to move. But sadly I know that if I did live there it would not look like that at all.

I'm sure someone will snap it up soon though. Have you found somewhere you want to buy?

onebatmother · 08/07/2008 15:53

yes Iorek - we had a sniff at a dream home which we could never afford on the open market - but we\ve almost certainly lost the short window we had..

Thanks for compliment though - it is very, very very small though (the pictures are extremely wide-angle) and it has 2 tiny bedrooms (technically doubles, if you don't have fancy notions about being able to put both feet on the ground at the same time) and a downstairs bathroom. Proper two up two down, and probabl smaller than an average 2 bed flat.

It doens't look tidy like that right now btw

OP posts:
Threadwworm · 08/07/2008 18:36

It is a lovely house onebat, really lovely. Someone small will come along and snap it up.

Would love to chat more about Deronda and other wankery but really busy during day, and not sleeping well so going to bed too early for the night shift.

onebatmother · 08/07/2008 20:33

Thanks, Threadie, but I fear we may have mised our appointment with the fairy of good fortune.

Which is a shame, since I think it is just the house for this important figure in the iconography of contemporary popular culture

OP posts:
onebatmother · 08/07/2008 20:35

Oh. Oh how awful. Oh no this really is desperately sad.

I think that is a conclusive answer to our earlier philosophical dilemma.
