Ad on this page - a pop up no less - blocking the entire screen and scrolling down the page with no X option.

I've been looking at Eurostar recently so I understand how it's tracked me but this ad isn't acceptable.

I just had an ad blocking my screen too (different ad - Great Western Railway I think). There was an X in the top corner but clicking it didn’t remove the ad.

The pop up moving adverts especially are really getting on my nerves. I'm seriously considering an ad blocker.

I get adverts keep the site going. But there's a limit to what the brain can handle at once.

WillTraynor · 16/06/2026 11:43

Me too. I haven't looked at Eurostar.

Morning everyone. We think we have fixed this issue now. If anyone is still seeing this Eurostar ad this morning could you let us know here? Thanks!

Catabogus · 19/06/2026 13:52

I’m having the same issue, but with Brittany ferries! (I’d rather travel with Eurostar but they aren’t currently blocking my whole page)

Catabogus · 19/06/2026 13:59

And now this one too. OK it’s not quite the entire page, but I can’t read the OP or most of the replies!

The duckduckgo browser will stop these intrusive ads

This is what I also ended up doing. I tried giving MN all the feedback they asked for but things just never got fixed. So now I use DuckDuckGo.

ILoveDuckDuckGo · 21/06/2026 20:56

Same.

KellyMumsnet · 21/06/2026 21:40

Evening @Catabogus . Thanks for the screengrabs. If you happen to have one of the Brittany Ferries ad too could you post it for us? Thank you!

KellyMumsnet · 22/06/2026 11:36

@Catabogus Regarding those Disney ads, there unfortunately isn't much we can do to change that but it does look like they should only appear in that format very rarely. So hopefully it won't affect you again, but if you are seeing it regularly please do let us know and we'll take a look at that.

I am also affected by the ad blocking replies. I am using Google Chrome on my Samsung tablet. I cannot tell what ad is covering the replies. This has only happened in the last week or so. See screenshot

@twointhemorning
Thanks for sending this over.

This looks more like a performance issue than an ad issue like the others in this thread, so could you please try clearing your cached cookies and images to see whether that helps?

It would also be really useful to know which Samsung tablet you’re using, ideally the exact model, if you can find it, as that may help us narrow things down.

Could you also let us know how performance has been since you first noticed the issue? Are you seeing the same thing every day, or has it only just started happening?

Best wishes,
MNHQ

Hi all,

A quick update from us.

We’ve added an extra precaution so that, if an ad overlays the page content, it should now be blocked. You may see it flicker briefly, but it should then disappear back into its normal frame size. We hope this will help with a number of the issues reported on this thread. Because we’re currently rolling this out, please do let us know if you still see an ad overlaying content. If you can, please include a screenshot, as that really helps us work out where anything is still slipping through.

The second issue is audio playing automatically. We’re still investigating this. It does slip through the net now and then, but we’ve checked all the set-ups we currently have and, as far as we can see, it shouldn’t be getting through. So we’re trying to establish whether something else is going wrong.

Thanks again to everyone who has reported examples, we do appreciate it.

Thanks
MNHQ
