Come on @mumsnet,sort this out once & for all please. iPhone 14, iOS 26.5, app version 45.3.8. Massive battery drain while using the app & phone heating up while using the app.

Hi OP

We made an update across the app that should've fixed this. We're really sorry this isn't the case for you. Can we ask if this has been ongoing for you, or intermittent?

PsychoSyd · 29/05/2026 15:33

Just started today after I updated.

@LilyMumsnet it’s really bad for me. Started at the same time as the Amazon ad fiasco. Phone is roasting and threads are sticky and glitching.
The app is unusable for me at the moment it’s so frustrating that its not better after all this time.
Took me an age to get the comment box open. Hope it posts!

Same here. Battery disappearing a rate of knots and phone heating up.

I've just deleted the app. Again.

Nemorth · 30/05/2026 17:19

Ah, now I know what’s been going wrong with my phone! Same. Overheating here and battery drain.

SnowflakeSmasher86 · 30/05/2026 17:21

Oh mine’s been overheating and draining quickly lately too - had no idea it could be something like this, I presumed it must just be that my phone needed replacing (iPhone 13 mini).

SproutingBee · 30/05/2026 17:26

Mine has started doing this today too. Had stopped previously.

GinandGingerBeer · 30/05/2026 20:42

Same, you could fry and egg on it. I had mine on charge today while using Mn and it got so hot it paused charging and gave a warning.

GodThatsBrilliant · 30/05/2026 20:45

Oh it’s Mumsnet that’s causing it??

Notsosweetcaroline · 30/05/2026 20:50

I don’t use mumsnet on my phone and mines started doing this, it’s been since the last IPhone update

eurochick · 30/05/2026 20:50

I clicked on this as my phone is roasting hot!

Renataz · 30/05/2026 21:29

mine is not as hot as it was the other day but it’s warm.

AlcoholicAntibiotic · 31/05/2026 02:50

It’s been happening on my iPad as well - not via the app, just when I’m on the website.

abracadabra1980 · 31/05/2026 03:02

Both my iphones do this (iphone13 and my old 8Plus). I presumed they were just getting on a bit and would need replacing soon?!

MyAutumnCrow · 31/05/2026 04:00

If you think it’s MN causing issues, try downloading a free browser like DuckDuckGo (that strips out the heavy advertising downloads). You can use it just for MN.

I’m using it now, with the mobile site. It’s made MN bearable again!

Bestinshow22 · 31/05/2026 08:26

I've deleted the app and my phone is fine now. MN isn't causing problems on my laptop.

This same thing has happened so many times with the app, I cba with trying things to 'solve it', AFAIK that's MN's problem.

(Sorry that isn't aimed at you @MyAutumnCrow I'm glad you found a way round it, but the app is so glitchy anyway. We've had weeks beforehand of intrusive Amazon haul ads.)
