mumsnet goint too slow on my PC tonight - how do I turn off the ads to try to make it quicker?

I've seen people talking about turning off the ads. How? I can't bear it when it's so slow!

Is it just MN? Well you can turn off graphics, or get a pop up blocker from Google. Either will do the job.

But honestly, most of the time with MN it's just a server return issue - you request a page and then wait in the queue for the server to present it and sometimes that queue is a tad longer than others.

so I'm queueing behind everyone else? Can't I push in?

Umm yes cornsilk - technically you could use a tool called JackHammer. But it's considered information terrorism these days and your ISP will get mightily hacked off with you (as well the site you crash with your attempts to beat their servers into submission).

Actually if your browser is running slow on particular sites and you are using windows it may be worth deleting your history and cookies for that site and relog in. You've probably got a cache of sixteen zillion pages and IE limits the amount of space allowed for any particular site so you are waiting to delete one page before loading the next IYSWIM.
