Issues with site. What is app like?

I usually access MN via browser on Samsung phone. Its hardly usable at the moment. I get bad gateway message and have to delete browser history to access after I been on the site a couple of times
I am trying the app. It works but just doesnt seem as user friendly or allow easy access to all topics. Perhaps it just me not being used to it
Can I learn to love the app?

It does take a while to accustom oneself to the app and find your own best way around it - but it’s doable (now).

I sometimes have to return to the mobile site when the app is having a tantrum.

I've loaded the app for the same reason. Really don't like it. On the plus side, I have massively reduced the amount of time I waste scrolling on MN!

Shortbreadel · 13/05/2026 08:05

I'm having the same issues with MN via browser. Clearing my cache isn't helping and the app is frustrating. Randomly takes me to Amazon when scrolling and I can see notifications. It's making me think I'll massively reduce my time spent on MN now!

Dontcallmescarface · 13/05/2026 09:34

It's fine on the desk top but on my phone it's hideous. Not used the app though as it's not much better IMO

Seeline · 13/05/2026 09:38

There used to be a massive difference in the Apps for iOS and Android (with the Android one being next to useless). The Android one has improved, but there is still nothing like the functionality of the mobile desktop site when it's working. I don't find it at all user-friendly.

JaneJeffer · 13/05/2026 11:52

The iOS app is unusable now that it’s got flashing ads. I just went on it to type a post and had to get off it.

WeAreOnTheRoadToNowhere · 14/05/2026 09:33

I deleted the app because I didn't like it but cant get on using browser at all now. I have reinstalled but dont find it easy
Can you go to the next post by OP like you can on the browser? I might be missing something

I keep getting 400 bad request on my Samsung tablet. MN is OK on my Android 'phone browser though, and I haven't got the app.. Given up as so many people are having the same issue.

BrightBrightSunshineyDay · 14/05/2026 10:03

I usually use Ecosia on my samsung phone, but keep getting 400 gateway message. Seems to be working fine through Chrome

Weirdly, I've had trouble with GPS over thr last couple of days. Obviously irrelevant to MN!

ReignOfError · 14/05/2026 10:03

The app is poorly designed and lacks some functionality, but it’s better than dealing with the constant glitches on the website on my phone.

Yes I'm getting this too on my Samsung phone. Laptop is OK. I've downloaded the app but like you I'm not keen. Prefer having page numbers to navigate a thread. Glad it's not just me with the 400 bad gateway problem! I am using the site less because of it.

I've had the same issue and tried it in incognito mode and it works fine now and no error messages
