Post completely disappeared into a black hole, ie. disappeared NOT deleted.

This was really weird. I posted on 9 May at 15:48 on the last page of a thread and bookmarked my post. When I went back to the thread I had posted on, I landed on the first page of the thread, which I thought odd.

I went to the last page of the thread and scrolled looking for my bookmark, to read from where I had left off, but could not find either my post or a deletion notice indicating that it had been removed.

So I went to my Mumsnet Bookmarks and found that there was an "empty" Bookmark, ie. the Thread Title and my Username but nothing to click on to jump to the post.

I had also Bookmarked the post in my own non-Mumsnet Bookmarks so I had access to the URL for the post. So I tried using that Bookmark, thinking that would do the trick. However, that also took me to the first page of the thread, not the last page.

This is where the post should be but there is nothing there and clicking on this link will take you to the start of the Topic thread:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/5526935-council-elections?page=40&reply=152200362

As it was a long post I had composed it off-line and I still had the text so I posted it again.

This time my post did not disappear:

www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/5526935-council-elections?page=40&reply=152205451

If this is a bug, I have not come across it before and am just glad that I composed my post offline so that I could repost.

ps. Moving the box for the Title of a new thread to a space after the Message Box is really weird. It took me ages to work out what was going on. It is very counter-intuitive to have the "Subject Line" after the Message Box.

That’s weird. I’ve seen deletions like that happen on MN web chat threads but not on normal threads. Having read your post, well done! 👏

Thank you! It's rare that an internet hiccough leads to a happy ending! ❤️

Hi there @POWNewcastleEastWallsend ,

Is it possible these posts included a link to a fundraiser? We can see one post has been deleted for that reason and it's possible the other was auto deleted by our system for the same issue. We're afraid we don't allow links like that on the site, so that might explain it.

If not, obviously no point posting the content of your post here again as it might just vanish but perhaps you could hit the report button here and send us the content of the post? We should be able to work out what the issue was from there.

POWNewcastleEastWallsend · 11/05/2026 01:05

Hi @KellyMumsnet I honestly do not recall posting any links to fundraisers.

I have no idea which post has been deleted because I did not get an email notifying me of the deletion.

I have got a copy of the text of the post that disappeared into thin air and it does not include a link to a fundraiser.

I will Report this post and include the text of the post that disappeared.

Just to say Thank You to @KellyMumsnet .

I have had an email from HebeMumsnet explaining that my posts were deleted and disappeared in error. This was due to one of my links being incorrectly flagged as a "Fundraiser". The posts have now been reinstated.

I have coped and posted the text of HebeMumsnet's email as she helpfully explains what caused the problem, ie. that "support" was interpreted as "financial support" in the context of one of the links being to a page that advertised political party membership at various fee levels (for Party of Women).

The "support" I was actually referring to was practical, ie. campaign leafleting during elections.

"Thanks for sending this in. We've had a closer look at the posts concerned. It looks like they were mistakenly deleted as fundraisers, as we thought. It was probably the combination of the link to the membership site alongside the 'more support would be welcome' sentence that did it. We can see that was not the case though and have reinstated the posts concerned. If you have any trouble with things like this disappearing again just let us know and we can do the same.

Best wishes and apologies for the confusion,"

A happy ending ❤️ xx
