Why do some posts get ignored and others get tons of replies?

I posted in education, I have no support system and I'm pretty alone tbh and at a loss. Next to my thread it said the amount viewing 50+ but then barely anyone responded. It has 15 replies but mostly it's me from bumping. It's pretty disheartening

It is a long post but I bolded where relevant so posters could just skip to there and read. The stuff before was just context. I wouldn't say it's a mundane question either, surely others on mumsnet know what happens during the investigation process etc etc.

Don't know what I want from this. I'm just at a loss

Honestly, some boards are more popular than others. But I did see your post and it was far too long for me personally, even the bold paragraphs were lengthy so I admit, I closed it without reading it.

Sorry that you are feeling lonely and at a loss.

There have been 2 replies in your second thread and you didn't engage with either, so people have tried and rather than answer them you've put a post on site stuff moaning you're not getting help.

It's quite a lengthy post and you want very specific answers, which will be almost impossible to get on here.

I'm not moaning. It's just disheartening when I'm already feeling alone and I see the view number next to my thread but people are ignoring. It's not specific advice either I've seen threads about schools and behaviour get plenty replies

Yes it's lengthy but I made the actual issue bold and otherwise id be accused of drop feeding

I saw your post too. Even your bolded part was long and I was unsure of what you were wanting because there was too much information so I closed it too.

Try cutting it down and clarify what you are wanting. And how are you seeing how many views you are getting?

EDIT. I went back and looked, you seem to have some helpful posts now.

I have found MN's active encouragement to get posters to engage with the " popular threads" very disturbing, and i've voiced this opinion a few times.

And yes it actually upsets me to see threads where an OP obviously desperate for help or advice gets few or no replies. Whereas other threads get so many replies I feel there is absolutely no point in me even reading them because I have either nothing original to say or what I do say would be lost in the proliferation of posts.

I don't follow the Education board OP so I didn't see your threads. I'm sorry you didn't get the responses you hoped for.

I feel MN these days is very much geared towards encouraging mass engagement in the more popular and sensational threads.

Hi there @PixelPuma . Good to see that you've got a few more responses now. If you'd like, we'd be happy to move the thread elsewhere and see if it gets more responses on a 'busier' part of the boards? Just let us know if you'd like us to do that.
