Private messaging disappeared/ disabled?

Am I missing something really obvious or has the Private Messaging facility gone? It’s not at the top of the page on the right hand side any more on my iPad and it connects to nothing on my phone (Android, Google Pixel) via the app, although the icon is still there.
Has it been disabled for some reason i.e. dodgy messages being sent again etc?

Thanks for flagging this.

We don't currently have PMs as a feature in the app - and it sounds like when you open a link, it opens up in the app automatically. We know this is frustrating, but you might need to uninstall the app and then check your private messages. Could you give this a go and let us know if this is the issue?

Thanks @LilyMumsnet ! It’s not the app on my iPad, it’s the (Desktop?) version reached through a browser (DuckDuckGo atm). I’ll try logging out and seeing if that brings the icon back, though.

Just checked and Mumsnet app not installed on iPad at all, so it can’t be opening up in that automatically.

A lovely poster just sent me a message and my icon with message count popped up. Once I’d read the message the icon disappeared so there’s obviously a glitch on the browser system. Can’ t get into Settings either, I’ve realised, so I won’t be able to switch names or log out.

I haven’t got the person at all unless a message is there. I’ll hit the cache clearing flame on my browser later, once I’ve found my password
I switched to DuckDuckGo because MN clogs other browsers up, shame it’s happening now on there too.

I’ve tried it on another browser and icon is there. Is it something to do with using DuckDuckGo?

Nope Just tried duck as have that for a second email account and my white person is there

I noticed this yesterday. It only reappears if there's a notification. Also not on the app and using DuckDuckGo.

Do you have an update on this please@LilyMumsnet? Without it we can't namechange, update any settings, log out or send PMs.

You should still be able to do it the long way round.

At the top of the page you should see

Talk > Site Stuff ⬇(down arrow)

Click on the down arrow

Click on Customise

Click on Account

As you’ll have gathered, I’ve got the same problem of the disappeared little white figure on the right! (iPhone, DuckDuckGo.) I had to figure out an alternative to do a name change.

Yes, it worked fine, thanks! No access to PMs but I hardly use that anyway. I’d love to know what’s blocking it on certain browsers, but doesn’t look like any answers are forthcoming.

I've lost mine as well, on duckduckgo. It disappeared a few days ago. Although it seems to reappear whenever I get a message.
