WLI Sub Board

Is there anyway of increasing moderation on the WLI board? Recently there has been a flood of users posting tips and tricks on how to fake compliance with WLI prescribing criteria. I appreciate it happens this time of year, but it's really difficult to see people struggling with their weight asking for support, getting genuine guidance on healthy eating and exercise which is more appropriate for them, just for other posters to encourage lying to prescribers.

The site staff are great at removing posts when reported, but it's the same users posting time and time again, so they clearly aren't aware of the issue.

I appreciate this may be a minor matter to some people, but it could be considered as encouraging illegal access to prescription medication and some other sub-forums (including those on reddit) have closed as a result of people flooding them promoting ways to fake eligibility. The board is so useful for those of us in genuine need of these drugs, and I don't want to see that happen.

Thanks for posting. Reporting is the best way to make sure moderators see something as we’re unlikely to spot individual posts otherwise, so thank you for doing that, and please do keep using the report button where needed.

Talking about the fact that some people attempt to game eligibility criteria isn’t, in itself, against our Talk guidelines but we look at everything on a case-by-case basis. Decisions about whether someone is prescribed medication ultimately sit with prescribers but of course we appreciate that this is a sensitive board and that people come to it in good faith for support.

We do look at reports and at wider patterns of posting, and we try to strike a balance between allowing discussion and stepping in where threads are clearly being derailed or pushed in an unhelpful direction.

We don’t think heavier blanket moderation would necessarily improve things, but we will continue to review concerns as they’re raised and take them into account as the board evolves.
