Does anyone else keep getting this?

Hello @GloriousGiftBag The “tab has crashed” message can mean your browser has run out of memory or hit a temporary glitch rather than there being an issue with your account. How long has it been happening for you?

Closing unused tabs, restarting the browser or phone, clearing the browser cache, and checking that your browser is fully up to date often resolves it. If it continues, trying a different browser (such as Chrome) can help confirm whether it’s browser-specific. If the problem keeps happening, please let us know roughly what you were doing when the crash appeared so we can look into it further. (A screen recording would be useful if you're able to send across to [email protected] or post here).

This has been happening to me for the last few days too. In fact it just happened as I was typing this! I'll try the suggestions you make to see if it's my problem rather than the site's.

gohomeroger1 · 08/01/2026 13:44

Happening to me as well only on this site

Crunchymum · 08/01/2026 14:22

Happening to me too. Only on this site.

I also get the screen reloading without the error too? It kind of goes blank and then goes back to where I was? Again only on MN.

Megifer · 08/01/2026 14:47

Happening to me too, only on this site. When im replying or scrolling on a thread. Can't do a screen recording as theres no guessing when it will do it.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 08/01/2026 15:06

Yes, happening for me since yesterday. Only on mumsnet. Same as the screenshot above. Samsung s23 using Samsung browser.

OnePercentBetterEachDay · 08/01/2026 15:29

Happening to me too. Only on MN.

BlackCoffeeAndSugar · 08/01/2026 17:31

Same only on mumsnet since yesterday.

Enko · 08/01/2026 18:48

I get that message too and not on other sites.

Android user

Thanks all - we're looking into it. In the meantime, do you notice anything in particular when this happens? An advert? Is it on long threads? A certain area of the site only? Any extra information would be a big help!

IncessantNameChanger · 08/01/2026 20:31

Same for me. Not even on long threads and there's no obvious advert.

HoskinsChoice · 09/01/2026 00:02

Not ad related I don't think. Not sure about the length of the thread, I think it's pretty consistent though. I only read AIBU so it's always in there for me but it could be site-wide, I wouldn't know.

HoskinsChoice · 09/01/2026 12:51

Any update? It's driving me crackers!

Happens to me on almost every thread I visit. Doesn't matter how many posts / what sub. No adverts that I am noticing.

It's rendering the site unusable for me to be honest.

This is the only site it happens for me on.

It happens when I am just trying to read or scroll down a normal thread.

The threads seem to jump a bit, reload or go back to OP too

But then I get the tab has crashed message and can go back and go into the thread as normal.

It's not happening on anything else at all so it's not my phone/browser/cache etc.

TheMorgenmuffel · 09/01/2026 13:58

Me too, only on mumsnet.
I've not been clicking it because I wasnt sure if it was a fake spammy redirect or not, so i just close the tab.

Wilsonthedog · 09/01/2026 16:12

Same. No issue with other websites.

HarryVanderspeigle · 09/01/2026 17:46

Same here, it's driving me mad. I read some posts then it crashes wiyh the above error, or it refreshes, and I lose my place. Only mumsnet. It's very off putting!

Timeforanewgame · 09/01/2026 17:53

This is happening to me too. Not happening on any other websites I'm on. Doesn't seem to coincide with anything in particular. The tab just seems to be reloading frequently which is annoying in itself and then sometimes the error comes up

GloriousGiftBag · 09/01/2026 18:10

It is getting worse now

Takes ages to reply to threads

OP posts:
OnePercentBetterEachDay · 09/01/2026 18:11

I keep getting it too.

Songlines · 09/01/2026 18:13

Happening to me too. Only on MN, no obvious pattern. Samsung

Bikergran · 09/01/2026 18:40

Crunchymum · 08/01/2026 14:22

Happening to me too. Only on this site.

Exactly what happens to me constantly. Only on Mumsnet, not on any other site.

SENcatsandfish · 09/01/2026 21:33

I came on here to complain about the same thing. Its driving me nuts! Scrolling on a thread and it suddenly happens.

Also when im writing a reply, if I scroll up to read a comment it takes me back to all the threads and I have to find the thread I was replying to and carry on writing my comment. Very annoying
