How to find pages in long threads?

Im sure there is a simple answer to this but it drives me round the bend if I say, answer a post on page 6 of a thread, when it comes up it takes me to the end of the thread, it doesnt send me back to the post I was replying to, then I have to painfully and slowly click on each page to go back, page 36, then 35, then 34 and so on and so on until I can find the post I was on to continue reading the thread.

Am I doing something wrong, there doesnt seem to be a box to put a page number in to go straight to that page for example (not that I would necessarily remember what page I was on at the time but it would be in the early part of the thread so I wouldnt have to keep going back page by page)

Theres probably a clever quick way of doing this which I have missed. It really annoys me

You should be able to use 'bookmark'.

Are you on the app or desktop?

Im on a laptop, nto sure what bookmark is? How does that work, and where is it?

It's at the bottom right of every post - well, it is on a laptop. When you have finished reading a thread (or if you make a post yourself on a thread), just hit "bookmark" and then next time you open the thread, you'll be taken back to where you left off.

Thanks @ArseSkinForAFriend (great name!)

I tried and failed to attach a helpful picture!

OP - there is also a "watch" option (on a button to the left, beneath where "bookmark" appears).

If you think you are likely to come back to the thread to see updates, bookmark your place then hit the "watch this thread" button and it will be added to your list.

If you then use the "I'm watching" button, it will show you all of the threads you are watching and you can see if any further comments have been made. If you post on a thread, then it automatically gets added to your watch list.

I think all the threads Ive commented on have 'watch thread' activated because in my list of 'Im on' it takes me to the last post I read

This is about when I make a post on a thread, it will take me right to the end of the thread and then I cant seem to find my way back if its a really long thread without slowly one by one going through the pages to find where I was

I will try the bookmark thing next time I make a post on a long thread and see what happens, but wont it just keep taking me back to the same page ever after?

@soupyspoon

When you go to your bookmarked post, just carry on reading any further posts and then bookmark again when you get to the end (or wherever you want to stop reading).
