Why was my thread deleted

Throwitaway27 · 22/12/2025 11:44

@MNHQ I had a thread in the eating disorders section. Why was it removed. I have not broken any guidelines. The thread was not any different to others in that section ?

What did the deletion message say?
The thread is removed and a message is left in its place. That normally gives an idea.

Thanks for your reports about this thread. We have a few concerns here so we're taking it down.

Do they think I'm trolling ?

They are checking you are not a troll. If you check out okay they can reinstate your thread.

TheMorgenmuffel · 22/12/2025 11:50

They think you might be so they are seeing what they can gather about you from the back end, what data etc they have on you.
If they dont come up with anything, theyll reinstate the thread

Theres been no contact at all though.

Its not about contacting you.
Its all tech stuff about ip, isp, techy cookie spy shit and tbh probably guess work.
Nobody knows because they dont share how they get information on users or how they use that information to decide if someone's on the level.

Tbh it all baffles me.

No tech stuff can tell you if what someone says is true.

My bedroom walls are blue.

Use tech back end digital whatsit to tell me if that's a lie!

BadgernTheGarden · 22/12/2025 12:05

They may look at what the person has posted on other threads, whether there is some agenda going on. Or it's a controversial first post, etc.

I don't think anyone cares if you lie about something trivial, if you are lying drumming up support for something controversial they might.

Apprently they think deleting my thread will make me get outside help. Its as Black and white as that . No consideration that talking about it may have helped me feel I could get help. Nope that's not allowed. So I will go back under my rock and deal with it myself.

I think they want to avoid what actually happened on your thread, that someone would come along and back you up saying what you are eating is absolutely fine. It then becomes a somewhat pro anorexia thread. That is no good for anyone. You really do need to seek outside help.

LilyMumsnet · 22/12/2025 16:07

Just to say - we're in touch with the OP off the board here to clarify our deletion.

SamVimesFavouriteDragon · 22/12/2025 22:47

If it was the one where OPs son said she had an eating disorder, it’s probably because it had people talking specifics about what they eat and calorie content, saying they felt fine on it. Lots of chatrooms ban that kind of talk as it is seen to be glamorising / deliberately triggering eating disorders.
