Is this actually MN because it seems odd

This advert. I'm not sure if it is where MN has rebranded so much that I don't recognise the font, or if it is just scammy.

I've seen it now on a promoted thread, so maybe it is true- but it is so poorly written. Thread series?

'sign up to 30 min call' '& claim £10 Amazon ' do you hate the letter a?

It’s legit. I did a call this morning and now have my £10 Amazon voucher. By “thread series” they mean one of the long running threads on particular topics where a new thread is started when the current one is full. Like the monthly pregnancy threads, or the Archers thread, or the weight loss injections monthly starter threads.

ScoutOfTheSoftHeartsClub · 20/12/2025 02:31

What is the focus of the research?

I’m on a very longstanding ‘ongoing thread’. Now slightly concerned that it’s about to be sold to X, or whatever.

IsobellaandthePotofBasil · 20/12/2025 08:10

@MNHQ what's the purpose of the research?

GoodQueenWenceslaus · 20/12/2025 09:54

Does MN really need to research why people contribute to the Archers thread? Surely the answer is very obvious?

SilenceInside · 20/12/2025 09:59

I think it’s more about how people use threads rather than why. I would recommend taking part if you’re curious and have questions.

What kind of things did you chat about?

ScoutOfTheSoftHeartsClub · 20/12/2025 11:18

And did they say (or could you discern) what the purpose of the research is???

I don't want to take part in a survey for a tenner.

I'd rather MNHQ explain.

SilenceInside · 20/12/2025 19:43

Fair enough.

SilenceInside · 20/12/2025 19:47

Oh, tagging MNHQ doesn’t notify anyone as it’s not a monitored username.

Can you expand on that?

SilenceInside · 20/12/2025 20:09

It was just a general chat about using threads, nothing nefarious or weird. Just normal user research imo.

Ok thanks

fancytoes · 20/12/2025 20:42

Why would they advertise on their own website and not use house fonts or styles? I suspect this is a scam. Every other subway etc they start a thread.

JaneJeffer · 20/12/2025 20:49

It seems very top secret

I'm glad it wasn't just me- whilst it appears it isn't a scam (unless @SilenceInside is the scammer... Joke probably) it feels so off, very similar to when scammers create fake websites/website links.

It's real, they sent me an email but all the times are in the day which isn't convenient for most full time workers.

SilenceInside · 20/12/2025 21:03

It’s a very long con from me if I am a scammer!

Ah doesn't surprise me😊

BeckyAMumsnet · 22/12/2025 08:51

Hello @DallasMajor thanks for posting - yes this is from MNHQ (thanks for linking the thread, @SilenceInside. The purpose of the research is to improve the user experience for the many MNers who post on long-running threads. Thanks for the feedback on the wording, though - we'll discuss this today.

IsobellaandthePotofBasil · 22/12/2025 16:49

Thanks @BeckyAMumsnet but why not pop on the Archers thread, for example, and ask us. Please don't go mucking around with our thread!

I’m on a couple of long running threads and I don’t see why they need to be tampered with. They’re the only threads you can post on here without getting attacked by someone!

ScoutOfTheSoftHeartsClub · 22/12/2025 17:28

Absolutely as you say, @IsobellaandthePotofBasil - if MNHQ wants to know how people feel about the Archers thread - why not ask there?

Also - that’s a very different animal to a ‘due date’ thread or one for people being treated for a particular illness. So we may want different things from a thread.
