"Please disable your adblocker"... my adblocker IS disabled!

Anyone else has started having this problem?

My adblocker is disabled with MumsNet, it has been for about a year. But for the last 2 days I keep getting MumsNet messages telling me to "disable my adblocker", and after removing them 3 times I cannot browse MumsNet anymore, because the message won't go.

I am at my wits' end, what can I do?

Image shows MumsNet mesage telling me to disable adblock, while you can actually see the icon showing it is disabled (in grey) at the top right.

Please MN, get this fixed!

Use the app browser DuckDuckGo. That’ll sort out MN browsing and posting for you.

Hello @aurynne sorry you’re seeing the ad block popup appear repeatedly - this can happen if a browser extension or privacy tool blocks part of the page from saving your preferences.

Please check if you have any of these installed:

Ad blockers: AdBlock, Adblock Plus, uBlock Origin, AdGuard, AdRemover, Ultrablock, Malwarebytes Browser Guard
Privacy tools: Ghostery, Privacy Badger, Disconnect, Firefox Tracking Protection, DuckDuckGo, VeePN

Try temporarily disabling them and refreshing the page.

If you don’t use extensions, your antivirus software (e.g. Norton, Bitdefender, Kaspersky, Sophos, Avast) might have web/ad/tracker blocking features. Try turning those off temporarily and reloading the site to see if that helps.

Yes, I had this- while ads were actually appearing on the screen!

I now use MN from another browser- I'm sure a quick search will suggest which ones are good.

No ads at all now :)

Hi, I've received the email from MumsNet, telling me to reduce my overall level of security from "enhanced" to "standard", accept all cookies from MumsNet without question and send MumsNet a photo of al the extensions my browser is using... I'm sorry, but this is several steps too far. I'm not going to make my computer vulnerable and report on every extension I'm using to you just so your adblock popup doesn't misfire. It's bad enough to put up with your unsolicited videos playing by themselves in the corner of my screen and your fake posts. This is a step too far, MumsNet, which I and undoubtedly many other users won't comply with just to be able to browse an online forum.

If you want to keep us as users you'll simply have to get an adblocker detector that works better (or as well as it used to work 3 days ago when I didn't have this problem). I'm not going to jump through hoops and risk my computer safety just so I have the privilege of watching your publicity.
