Reaction emojis not working

It was working fine this morning, but the button isn't working now.

I've never understood why that works.

When my printer stops working for no discernible reason, switching it off and on always gets its brain organised again. But why????

Sorry to hear you're having issues with the emojis. We can see that you're posting from the desktop site - could you let us know what happens when you click on the React tab? Do the emojis just not appear at all, or is it that they're there, but you can't click on them?

I've gone mad with restored emoji power and emoji hearted everyone's posts 😂

Normally when I hover over the button all the choices pop out. For a little while there nothing was happening and clicking on the button wasn't doing anything either.

It seems to have resolved itself now, but thank you for responding so quickly!

Edited to add that all the other buttons and functions were working normally, it was just the reactions button that wasn't.

Excellent news, thanks for letting us know. Must have been a gremlin in the works. Or a Christmas elf...

@JoMumsnet I'm afraid it's happening again. I noticed yesterday but thought it'd sort itself out again, but no joy as of this morning.

All other buttons are working as normal, but when I hover over the reactions they don't pop out and clicking on it doesn't do anything.

Hi again @CohensDiamondTeeth . We'll look at this now. Can you tell us are you still on Desktop and only using Desktop? And what browser are you using currently? If you have a moment to try a different browser and tell us what happens then that would be great.

If it's possible to get a screen video of what happens when you move the cursor over the 'react' button, that would be really helpful but it sounds like there's not much to see as just nothing is happening? Does the 'react' button 'underline' like the other buttons should when you hover over it at all?

Thanks, I can only run MN in Microsoft Edge on my desktop as I have various issues with other browsers and MN crashes all the time on my phone.

I don't think a screen video will be helpful to you (and I don't know if my ancient laptop does that!), as there would be nothing to see. But yes the reaction button does underline like all the other buttons, it just doesn't work for some reason.

Like I say, hovering over it for however long, or clicking on it doesn't make a difference, but the other buttons quote, add post and bookmark all work as normal. All the other functions I normally use while on MN are working fine, it's just the reaction button has taken a sudden dislike to me 😅

@HebeMumsnet it's been working on and off but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to why as far as I can tell.

It worked for a while yesterday, but it's not working this morning again.

@JoMumsnet and @HebeMumsnet I have figured out that the reactions only work if I have the window maximised, it won't work in a minimised window.

It never used to do this, so I still don't know why it's suddenly happened.
