Hi, I got a message this morning saying I need to disable my ad blocker. But I don't look at MN on an ad blocker browser.

Please advise

I've had same message for a couple of weeks. I don't use an ad blocker either. Very annoying.

I get that all the time on Firefox even when I disable the adblocker.
Seems ok on chrome since you can barely see the page for adverts.

Hello @Dolamroth the “disable ad block” pop up you’re seeing can sometimes be triggered by a browser extension, even if you don’t have a traditional ad blocker installed.

Could you please check whether you have any of the following extensions or privacy tools active:
Ad blockers:

  • AdBlock
  • AdBlock Plus
  • uBlock Origin / uBlock Origin Lite
  • AdGuard Extension
  • AdRemover
  • Ultrablock
  • Malwarebytes Browser Guard
Privacy / Tracking Protection extensions:
  • Ghostery
  • Privacy Badger
  • Disconnect
  • Firefox Tracking Protection (if applicable)
  • DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials
  • VeePN
  • Other privacy tools or services that may block content
How to check in Chrome:
  1. Click the three dots in the top-right corner of Chrome.
  2. Go to More tools → Extensions.
  3. Look through the list for any of the extensions above and try temporarily disabling them.
  4. Refresh Mumsnet to see if the message disappears.

If you’re still seeing the message after checking these, let us know and we’ll investigate further. Thank you.
